Meloan had a 2.03 ERA and a 91/27 K/BB ratio in 66 2/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A. If he throws strikes, he could be a force right away. We feel the Dodgers should have tried him months ago.

Angel Martínez went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI against the Tigers on Monday.

In the fifth inning, Martínez scored on a Rhys Hoskins sacrifice fly. In the next inning, he drove in a run to put the Guardians up 5-1. The 24-year-old outfielder hit leadoff with the Guardians facing left-handed starter Framber Valdez. He’s hitting .270 with 23 runs scored, nine home runs, 25 RBI and eight stolen bases.

Willson Contreras

BOS 1st Baseman #40

Willson Contreras hit a two-run homer off Seth Lugo to lead the Red Sox past the Royals 3-1 on Monday.

Contreras started the scoring with his 435-foot blast in the sixth inning, and both teams scored single runs afterwards. It was Contreras’s 10th homer of the year, putting him halfway to his total of 20 from last season. His career high is 24, which he achieved in 105 games for the Cubs in 2019.

Sonny Gray

BOS Starting Pitcher #54

Sonny Gray limited the Royals to one run in six innings and struck out nine in a victory Monday.

Gray was plenty effective in his first two starts since coming off the injured list, but it was nice to see the strikeout ability return tonight. He got five on his sweeper alone. Gray had a 30 percent strikeout rate in 2024 and came in at 27 percent last season, but coming into tonight, he was at just 15 percent in his seven starts this year. The victory makes him 5-1 with a 2.93 ERA. He’ll face the Twins on Sunday.

Aroldis Chapman

BOS Relief Pitcher #44

Aroldis Chapman worked a perfect ninth with a two-run lead for his 11th save Monday versus the Royals.

It’s Chapman’s 13th straight scoreless appearances and sixth in a row in which he hasn’t allowed a hit. The save was his 378th of his career, so he’s passed Joe Nathan to stand alone in 10th place on the all-time list. Next up is Dennis Eckersley at 390, though since Billy Wagner is eighth at 422, ninth is as far as Chapman is going to move up the list this year.

Seth Lugo

KC Starting Pitcher #67

Seth Lugo lost to the Red Sox after allowing two runs in six innings on Monday.

Lugo has had some rough outings of late, but he’s also suffered from quite the lack of support in his strong outings, which is why he’s 1-4 through 10 turns. This is the seventh time he’s allowed two runs or fewer. He has another home start coming up this weekend against the Mariners.

Vinnie Pasquantino

KC 1st Baseman #9

Vinnie Pasquantino finished 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in the loss to the Red Sox on Monday.

Pasquantino seemed to be bouncing back earlier this month, but he is 2-for-19 in his last five games, dropping his average back down to .198, and his xwOBA was already trending down again before that. That’s still no good explanation from him going from 58th percentile bat speed last year to 14th percentile this season. There’s still hope things will get better, but the Royals probably need to try someone else in the third spot in their lineup.

José Ramírez

CLE 3rd Baseman #11

José Ramírez went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run and three RBI against the Tigers on Monday.

Ramírez’ home run was his eighth of the year. The 33-year-old third baseman piled on with a solo shot off Emmanuel De Jesus in the ninth inning. Ramírez also helped break open the game with a two-run double that gave the Guardians a 7-1 lead in the sixth inning. He’s hitting .240 with 30 runs, 22 RBI and 20 stolen bases this year.

Framber Valdez

DET Starting Pitcher #59

Framber Valdez allowed four runs in five innings and took the loss against the Guardians on Monday.

Valdez gave up five hits, walked four and struck out three. He fell to 2-3 with the loss. Valdez has allowed 13 earned runs in 14 2/3 innings over his last three starts now. The 32-year-old left-hander has a career 3.41 ERA and 3.37 xFIP so fantasy managers have to be frustrated that he has a 4.58 ERA and 4.21 xFIP after 10 starts this year. Valdez is lined up to face the Orioles on the road this weekend for his second start this week.

Ronald Acuña Jr.

ATL Right Fielder #13

Braves manager Walt Weiss said Ronald Acuña Jr. will be in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Marlins.

Acuña didn’t end up making an appearance during Monday’s 12-0 blowout loss at loanDepot park after being activated from the injured list prior to the contest. The 28-year-old fantasy superstar will make his return to Atlanta’s lineup after missing just over two weeks with a left hamstring strain.
