Sean West held the Rays to two earned runs over five innings, but was left with a no-decision Saturday in his major league debut.
West pitched pretty well against a hot-hitting Rays club. His control wasn’t great (four walks, five strikeouts), but that’s to be expected. NL-only leaguers might want to throw him on some kind of watch list. He’ll face the Mets next week.

Josh Jung went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles and two RBI on Friday night, propelling the Rangers to a 5-4 victory over the Tigers in Detroit.
Jung opened the scoring with a two-out RBI single in the opening inning that plated Brandon Nimmo. He then added another RBI knock during a three-run uprising in the third inning. Fully healthy, the 28-year-old third baseman is off to an outstanding start to the 2026 season, slashing .321/.381/.538 with four homers and 19 RBI in his first 118 plate appearances.
Rutschman putting up 'star caliber' statistics
James Schiano breaks down Adley Rutschman's performance in his six games since returning for the Orioles from the IL, in which he has put up an impressive performance with four home runs and 14 RBIs.

Aroldis Chapman pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his sixth save of the season on Friday against the Astros.
Chapman struck out the first batter he faced on the evening and forced Christian Vázquez to ground out for the second out of the inning. He would give up a double to Carlos Correa on the next at-bat, but was able to force a grounder from Yordan Alvarez to end the threat. With his ERA now sitting at 0.93 on the season, Chapman appears dialed in and locked into the closing role for the Sox.

Danny Jansen went 1-for-4 and swatted his second home run of the season on Friday, helping to power the Rangers to victory over the Tigers.
Jansen opened the third inning with a 377-foot (102.7 mph EV) solo shot off of Jack Flaherty that pushed the Rangers’ lead to 2-0 and ignited a three-run rally. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the night. For the season, the 31-year-old backstop is slashing an underwhelming .211/.282/.380 with a pair of homers and eight RBI.

Jacob Latz slammed the door on the Tigers in the ninth inning on Friday night, retiring the side in order to protect a one-run lead and secure his third save of the season.
He made quick work of the Tigers in this one, getting Hao-Yu Lee on strikes, Gleyber Torres on a fly ball to center and Kevin McGonigle on a ground ball to first to end it. Rangers’ manager Skip Schumaker had “all but anointed” Latz as his closer after his two-inning save against the Yankees on Wednesday and he solidified it with his performance on Friday night. Latz needs to be rostered in all mixed leagues.

MacKenzie Gore struggled in a no-decision against the Tigers on a chilly Friday evening in Motown, giving up three runs on four hits in just 3 2/3 innings.
The 27-year-old southpaw also issued three free passes on the night while striking out three. He cruised through the first three innings unscathed, but the Tigers got to him in the fourth for three runs on four hits and a walk, prompting the Rangers to go to the bullpen. Gore got six whiffs on 94 pitches on the evening, registering a minuscule CSW of 19 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he totes a 4.67 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 45/18 K/BB ratio (34 2/3 innings) into a tough matchup against the Yankees in New York on Thursday.
  • DET Right Fielder #46
Wenceel Perez went 1-for-4, drove in a pair of runs and stole a base as the Tigers fell to the Rangers on Friday evening in Motown.
Perez got the Tigers on the board with a two-run single off of MacKenzie Gore in the fourth inning. He also reached on a fielder’s choice in the sixth inning, swiped second base and took third on an error, but the Tigers were unable to cash him in. On the season, the 26-year-old outfielder is now hitting .140/.204/.280 with two homers, five RBI and one stolen base through his first 54 plate appearances on the season.

Jack Flaherty delivered another shaky start in a no-decision against the Rangers on Friday, surrendering four runs on five hits and three walks in just 3 2/3 innings of work.
Sigh. Flaherty struck out four batters in the ballgame. He had allowed just one run through the first two innings, but the wheels fell off for him completely in the third after Danny Jansen clubbed a leadoff homer. Flaherty then walked the next three hitters before allowing an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. He threw just 55 of his 91 pitches for strikes in the contest, getting nine whiffs and posting a CSW of 31 percent. He’ll carry a miserable 5.90 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and a 32/25 K/BB ratio (29 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Red Sox. If the Tigers had enough healthy alternative options, Flaherty’s spot in the rotation could be in serious jeopardy.
  • BOS Left Fielder #16
Jarren Duran went 1-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in Friday’s win over the Astros.
Duran was responsible for all three runs the Red Sox scored on the evening. Stepping up with two runners on and no outs in the third inning, Duran belted a curveball from Mike Burrows 425 feet into right center to put the Red Sox up 3-1, which proved to be enough for the win. It was just the second homer of the season for Duran, who has struggled at the plate in the early part of the season. With just one hit in his last five games, it’d be nice to see Duran string a few hits together so we can get back to trusting him in our lineups.
  • HOU 3rd Baseman #1
Carlos Correa went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, and an RBI in Friday’s loss to the Red Sox.
Correa broke a scoreless tie in the third inning when he smacked a leadoff homer off of Jake Bennett to give the Astros a 1-0 lead. He continues to swing a hot bat for the Astros, slashing .286/.379/.482 over his last 15 games while hitting two homers and driving in six runs. With only three homers on the season, we still shouldn’t expect much from Correa in the power department, but he’s producing at a consistent level.
  • MIL Catcher #24
Williams Contreras went 4-for-5 with three RBI and one run scored in a 6-1 win over the Nationals on Friday.
The Nationals had no answers for Contreras here. He didn’t even hit the ball especially hard, especially by his powerful standards, just consistently where defenders weren’t. Two of his four hits brought runners home in this easy win and the scalding hot Contreras has now notched back-to-back four hit games. Those have sent his batting average up to .310 in what’s shaping up to be an excellent bounce back campaign.
