Gillaspie batted just .194/.211/.333 in 18 games this spring in the Cactus League. The 24-year-old will serve as organizational infield depth this year for San Fran.

The 28-year-old has hit .238/.356/.429 with four homers and 20 RBI in 102 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season. He’ll share the load behind the plate with Freddy Fermin until Campusano is able to return.

The Padres had been taking it day-to-day with Campusano, but they finally decided it was best to sit him down for a week and let the injury heal rather than to continue to wait for him and play shorthanded. Rodolfo Duran was promoted from Triple-A El Paso to take his spot on the active roster.

Estévez had been on a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha where he exited Wednesday’s outing with shoulder discomfort after experiencing diminished velocity throughout the appearance. That’s not good. Even if he resumes throwing once this three-week period is up, it’s going to take him another couple of weeks to build back up and head back on a rehab assignment, pushing a return to the Royals’ bullpen way into the future. Lucas Erceg will continue to hold down the fort in the ninth inning for the foreseeable future.

Quatraro noted that the club will evaluate him over the next few days before deciding on the next steps. They had been optimistic that Ragans would be able to make his next scheduled start, it’s unclear if that’s still the case. The 28-year-old southpaw experienced soreness in his triceps and elbow during Wednesday’s start against the Guardians.

Lowe opened the scoring with a bang in the top half of the first inning, tagging Zac Gallen for a 436-foot (111.1 mph EV) solo shot. He then ignited a rally with a two-out single in the fifth inning and scored on an RBI knock by Ryan O’Hearn. Lowe has been an impactful addition for the Pirates’ offense this season, slashing a healthy .266/.368/.573 with 10 homers and 23 RBI.

The 29-year-old backstop capped off the scoring for the Pirates in this one, ambushing a first-pitch slider for a 380-foot (109.5 mph EV) solo shot that increased the Pirates’ lead to 4-2. He also singled. With his two-hit effort, Bart is now slashing .220/.259/.360 with a pair of long balls and just four RBI on the season.

Soto was summoned to face the middle of the Diamondbacks’ lineup and made very quick work of them, getting Ildemaro Vargas on a pop out to short, Jose Fernandez on a ground ball to second and Jorge Barrosa on strikes to end it. Soto has been incredible for the Pirates and for fantasy managers this season, compiling a 1.42 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and a 25/7 K/BB ratio across 19 innings while converting three saves and notching three victories.
