Marlins recalled RHP Josh White from Triple-A Jacksonville.
It’s the first trip to the big leagues for the 25-year-old hurler and is certainly well deserved after two years of dominating batters at the Triple-A level. In 17 appearances at Triple-A Jacksonville this season he holds a minuscule 1.33 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 28/15 K/BB ratio across 27 innings of work. Expect him to be used in a middle relief role initially for the Marlins.

Marlins placed RHP Janson Junk on the 15-day injured list with right shin inflammation.
Junk suffered the injury when he was hit by a comebacker during Monday’s start against the Blue Jays. The Marlins had been hopeful that he would be able to make his scheduled start on Sunday, but Junk did not improve at all throughout the week, so they’ll sit him down for a bit to make sure that it heals properly. John King will start a bullpen game for the Marlins on Sunday.

Twins selected the contract of RHP Mike Paredes from Triple-A St. Paul.
It’s the first trip to the big leagues for the 25-year-old right-hander. Paredes had been pitching well at the Triple-A level, posting a 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 33/8 K/BB ratio over 34 2/3 innings in nine appearances (seven starts). It’s unclear if he’ll be utilized as a long man out of the Twins’ bullpen or if he’ll help cover for the injuries that the Twins are dealing with in their rotation.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #71
Twins optioned RHP John Klein to Triple-A St. Paul.
Klein was with the Twins for just one game this time around, issuing three walks and a hit while navigating a pair of scoreless innings on Saturday. He’ll bide his time at the Triple-A level until another need arises in the Twins’ bullpen.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #45
Twins recalled RHP Travis Adams from Triple-A St. Paul.
Adams was just optioned to Triple-A on Thursday, but he’ll get to return with Bailey Ober (elbow) landing on the injured list. The 26-year-old hurler has struggled to an 8.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and an 11/9 K/BB ratio across nine innings with the Twins this season.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #17
Twins placed RHP Bailey Ober on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.
Ober was pounded for eight runs (seven earned) over 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Pirates on Sunday and it sounds like the elbow issue may have played a role in his struggles. No word from the team yet on how long they expect him to be sidelined for. Travis Adams was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move on Sunday.
  • BOS Center Fielder #3
Ceddanne Rafaela was scratched from the Red Sox’ starting lineup due to soreness in his lower back.
He sustained the injury while attempting to make a diving catch in the outfield. It’s not believed to be a major issue, but Red Sox’ skipper Chad Tracy wanted to utilize Monday’s off day to get him off his feet for a couple of days. Expect him to return to action on Tuesday.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #35
Red Sox’ manager Chad Tracy told reporters on Sunday that Garrett Crochet (shoulder) has had his throwing progression halted due to lat tightness that has cropped up over the past few days.
The 26-year-old southpaw had been scheduled to face hitters in a live batting practice session on Tuesday, but that will no longer happen. It sounds like they’ll take it day-to-day for now on when he may be able to resume throwing. Crochet has been sidelined since late April due to inflammation in his pitching shoulder.
  • TEX Center Fielder #32
Evan Carter (foot) remained out of the Rangers’ starting lineup for Sunday’s tilt against the Royals.
Carter hasn’t played since exiting Friday’s game after being hit on the foot by a pitch from Eli Morgan. He was able to avoid any fractures, but it still dealing with a bit of soreness and swelling. He should return to the lineup in another day or two. Michael Helman will once again start in his place in center field and will bat ninth against Royals’ right-hander Michael Wacha.
  • HOU Shortstop #28
Braden Shewmake (groin) was held out of the Astros’ starting lineup for Sunday’s battle against the Brewers.
Shewmake was pulled from Saturday’s game due to right groin soreness. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to require a trip to the injured list, but it still may be another day or two before he’s ready to return to action. Nick Allen will start in his place at second base and will bat eighth for the Astros against Jacob Misiorowski and the Brewers on Sunday afternoon in Houston.
