Bogaerts didn’t even last three months with the organization. The 19-year-old outfielder was acquired from the Red Sox in late March as a player to be named later in the Theo Epstein compensation deal, but the Cubs have already given the pink slip.

Neto was in a serious slump, going hitless in his last five games. His home run drought extends back to April 10. He first broke the hitless streak with a single in the third inning, then took Erick Fedde deep for a solo homer in the fifth. The 25-year-old shortstop is up to six with 24 runs scored and seven steals while slashing .218/.327/.395 across 171 plate appearances.

Correa will visit a foot specialist on Wednesday. It’s probably a good thing that that is the left ankle, as opposed to the right one that caused Correa to flunk physicals with the Mets and Giants as a free agent three years ago. Still, a lengthy absence appears likely here. The Astros will get by with Nick Allen and Braden Shewmake until Jeremy Peña comes off the IL, something that will hopefully happen next week. While this is definitely a blow, it at least will serve to settle the Houston infield, with Isaac Paredes playing third regularly and Yordan Alvarez DHing most of the time.

Meidroth knocked a base hit to lead off the first inning and scored a run on a base hit. He later led off the seventh with a home run off Sam Bachman, a 100.4 mph fly ball that just made it inside the left field foul pole for his second of the season. The 24-year-old second baseman is hitting a solid .269/.342/.369 with 23 runs scored and five RBI across 149 plate appearances.

aferjahn took the mound with two outs and a runner on base with a one-run lead in the eighth inning. He struck out the final batter and returned for the ninth. He hit a batter and walked two more to load the bases before ending the game on a groundout for his first save. It was interesting that the team opted not to use Kirby Yates in his first day off the injured list, perhaps wanting to get him lower-leverage work first. Zeferjahn will likely remain in the saves mix, but it’s a situation that’ll be tough to project.

ldegheri made his first start for the Angels on Tuesday. He got into trouble right away, loading the bases with no outs in the first. A base hit and a sacrifice fly would bring two runs in before he can escape the jam. He gave the team three more scoreless innings before leaving at 69 pitches. The 24-year-old left-hander should stay in the rotation for a start against the Guardians in Cleveland on Monday.

Fedde gave up a pair of solo homers in the first inning to Mike Trout and Jorge Soler. Things got away from him with two outs in the fifth as he surrendered two more runs on a home run, a walk, and a double. Fedde’s day would be done before he could complete the fifth. The 33-year-old right-hander will take a 3.79 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and a 24/13 K/BB ratio across 38 innings into a start against the Royals in Chicago next Tuesday.

Lambert gave up 10 hard-hit balls and had just a 17 percent CSW tonight, but these aren’t the 2025 Dodgers, at least not right now. Lambert moved to 2-2 with a 2.42 ERA. He’s gone 22 1/3 innings without allowing a homer this year, which is pretty good for someone who gave up one every 5.4 innings in 35 starts and 39 relief appearances with the Rockies. He’ll probably make his next start Monday against the Mariners, though the Astros do have the option of moving him up to Sunday in Cincinnati.

King gave up a double and a single in the eighth to bring the Dodgers within one run, but the Astros stuck with him in the ninth and he allowed only a one-hit single before closing out the game. He’s now matched Enyel De Los Santos with his third save. Both guys might have a little value until Josh Hader returns.

The runs came on homers from Christian Walker in the second and Braden Shewmake in the third. Shewmake’s was a 337-footer that would have left only four ballparks. Ohtani allowed just two other hits, walked none and struck out eight. The homers were the first two he’s allowed this year, and he’s still given up just four earned runs through 37 innings. He’ll likely make his next start next Tuesday against the Giants, and he should be back in the lineup as a DH on Wednesday after being excluded tonight.

Shewmake’s homer on a 99-mph fastball was a 337-footer into the Crawford Boxes. Statcast said it would have been a homer in four ballparks, but it was a pretty impressive piece of hitting regardless. It was his third homer in 85 plate appearances as a major leaguer. He’s 4-for-13 with two homers since the Astros added him.
