Blue Jays optioned RHP Scott Richmond to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Richmond allowed a pair of runs over three innings in his short stint with the big club. He’ll return to a 5.46 ERA and 71/28 K/BB ratio at Triple-A. A corresponding move will be announced Thursday.

The MLBPA proposed a $1.5 million minimum salary in their opening economic proposal to owners.
The $1.5 million minimum salary — a significant jump from the $780,000 minimum that currently exists — is among the highlights of the initial proposal, but far from the only ask. The union proposes a “competitive-integrity tax” for any team that does not spend $150 million in their respective season. Among the other highlights are a proposed jump from $50 million to $180 million in the bonus pool, a minimum tender in arbitration of $3 million, and a jump in Super 2 players from 22 percent of the field to 44 percent. The MLB owners are expected to make their initial proposal to the player’s association Thursday.
    Sabathia digs into baseball superstitions
CC Sabathia and Ahmed Fareed weigh in on baseball superstitions, including ones from CC's playing days and a quirky routine he never forgot about one of his former teammates in New York.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #35
Justin Verlander (hip) threw a simulated game Wednesday.
Verlander reportedly got his fastball up to 95.2 mph and threw 62 pitches in the outing. The 43-year-old appears to be closing in on a rehab assignment, and assuming there are no setbacks, there’s a good chance he’s back in the Detroit bullpen before the end of June.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #49
Cubs signed LHP Aaron Bummer to a minor league contract.
Bummer was released last week by Atlanta after forging an ugly 7.63 ERA over 15 1/3 innings. The southpaw will likely head to Triple-A Iowa, but if he pitches well there, he has a good chance of joining the Chicago bullpen this summer.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #39
Eury Pérez exited Wednesday’s start against the Blue Jays due to a right hamstring spasm.
Pérez finished with four scoreless innings and nine strikeouts. The right-hander will likely need to undergo imaging, and his status going forward will largely be determined by those results. It’s always a bummer to see an injury, but especially considering how dominant Pérez had looked during Wednesday’s contest.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #39
Eury Pérez left Wednesday’s start against the Blue Jays with an apparent injury.
Pérez appears to have injured himself while stretching between innings, and needed to be helped into the clubhouse. The right-hander was pitching exceptionally; striking out nine over four scoreless innings. Michael Peterson has taken over for Pérez. There should be an update on his status shortly.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #68
Rays selected the contract of RHP Jonathan Heasley
Heasley has forged a 3.90 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in his time with Triple-A Durham this year. He’ll be a multi-inning option for Tampa Bay while he’s with the club.
  • TB Middle Reliever
Rays optioned RHP Trevor Martin to Triple-A Durham.
Martin is sent down to make room for Jon Heasley. The 25-year-old will likely be up and down for the majority of 2026.
  • TB Left Fielder #11
Rays transferred INF/OF Gavin Lux from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Lux has been dealing with both shoulder and leg injuries and has yet to be able to play in 2026. The 28-year-old doesn’t have a timetable for a return, and his placement on the 60-day injured list opens a spot on the 40-man roster for Jon Heasley.
  • PHI Left Fielder #16
Brandon Marsh (finger) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Padres.
Marsh left Tuesday’s game versus San Diego with a right middle finger sprain. Unsurprisingly, he’ll get Wednesday off while recovering, and Edmundo Sosa will get the start in left field.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #17
Blue Jays transferred RHP José Berríos from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
This clears room on the 40-man roster for the recently acquired Connor Seabold. Berrios is going to miss the remainder of 2026 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, so this is just a procedural move. The hope is that Berrios will be ready for the summer of 2027.
