Rangers optioned LHP Joseph Ortiz to Triple-A Round Rock.
The move opens a spot for Alexi Ogando’s return from the disabled list. Ortiz has a 5.13 ERA in 20 appearances with the Rangers this season.

Sandy Alcantara gave up seven runs and 10 hits over six innings Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
It’s the first classic bad Alcantara start — when he gets knocked around but still goes six or seven innings anyway — since his return from Tommy John. He’s completed six innings in four of his five starts this month after doing so just once in April and May. Things are on the upswing here, but it should be noted that he’s yet to have much success against offenses that are clicking. The Brewers will likely give him a good test next week.
Rays' Caminero emerging as fantasy star in 2025
Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero is rising to stardom with 20 home runs this season, so it shouldn't be surprising to see him creep up into the first few rounds in next year's fantasy baseball drafts.

Anthony Bender retired all six batters he faced in the ninth and 10th innings to get his second win Saturday versus the Diamondbacks.
Bender had a win on March 30 and a save a day later and then no more of either for almost three months until today. He had, however, picked up five losses and three blown saves, even though he came into the day with a 2.41 ERA. Bender kept the game tied in the bottom of the ninth and then protected a one-run lead with the automatic runner on second in the 10th, getting groundouts from Eugenio Suárez, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Randal Grichuk. Bender is a strong candidate to wind up in another team’s pen before the trade deadline next month.

Brandon Pfaadt surrendered three runs — two earned — and struck out seven Saturday against the Marlins.
After one of the worst two-start runs of the season took his ERA from 3.90 to 5.65, Miller has leveled off lately, giving up 10 earned runs over 20 innings in his last four starts. Unfortunately, the kind of outings he’s having currently aren’t as likely to lead to wins now as when the D-backs were closer to full strength earlier this season. Pfaadt will face the Giants next.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #18
Shelby Miller took a blown save after giving up a run in the ninth Saturday against the Marlins.
Dane Myers swiped a run against Miller with a single and two stolen bases before scoring on a sac fly. Miller struck out the other two batters he faced. This is just the second time he’s been scored upon this month, and he’s still the easy favorite for saves in the Arizona pen.
  • ARI Center Fielder #4
Ketel Marte had a three-run homer and a sac fly in a losing cause Saturday against the Marlins.
Marte has four homers in eight games and 16 for the season, even though he didn’t hit his first until May 8. Of course, he missed most of April with a hamstring strain, but he still had no homers through 13 games and now 16 in 43.
  • SD 1st Baseman #30
Gavin Sheets went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a three-run home run against the Reds on Saturday.
Sheets’ home run was No. 13 on the year for him. The 29-year-old outfielder hit a three-run shot off Lyon Richardson in the seventh inning to give the Padres a 6-4 lead. Sheets is hitting .265 with a .792 OPS and 49 RBI on the season.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #75
Robert Suarez tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Reds on Saturday.
Suarez’ save was No. 23 on the season for him. The 34-year-old right-hander emerged as the Padres’ closer last year as he saved 36 games. Suarez’ 3.41 ERA this year isn’t as good as his 2.77 ERA last year, but he’s leading the league in saves this year.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #41
Andrew Abbott allowed one run in five innings and got a no-decision against the Padres on Saturday.
Abbott gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out four. The 26-year-old left-hander continues to enjoy a career-year with a 1.79 ERA. While Abbott has 76 strikeouts in 80 1/3 innings, his xFIP is 4.06 due to a low .241 BABIP and high 88 percent left on base percentage. Abbott will look to continue to avoid obvious regression against the Phillies on the road next weekend.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #98
Randy Vasquez allowed four runs in 4 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Padres’ 6-4 victory over the Reds on Saturday.
Vasquez gave up nine hits, walked two and struck out three. The 26-year-old right-hander’s struggles continued into start No. 17 this season. Vasquez has a 3.84 ERA on the year, but his 5.69 xFIP shows more of his true talent level. He has just 48 strikeouts in 84 1/3 innings this year. Vasquez isn’t a recommended option for his next start against the Rangers at home next weekend.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #68
Angels recalled RHP José Fermin from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Fermin gets the call to replace Hector Neris in the bullpen. The 23-year-old offers some long-term upside but isn’t likely to have a significant role from a fantasy perspective for the remainder of 2025.
