Ron Clements of HomeRunOnWheels.com reports that Seth Maness has signed with the High Point Rockers of the independent Atlantic League.
Maness has struggled since returning from elbow surgery two years ago and will now try to get back on track in independent ball. The 30-year-old made just five appearances at the minor league level in 2018.

Tyler Stephenson won his arbitration case against the Reds and will make $6.8 million in 2026.
Stephenson had been projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to earn $6.4 million via arbitration. The Reds had filed at $6.55 million, so rather than hashing it out and meeting in the middle, they took it to the panel and Stephenson came out on top. The 29-year-old backstop slashed a disappointing .231/.316/.421 with 13 long balls and 50 RBI in 342 plate appearances during the 2025 season.

  • FA Left Fielder #29
Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the Tigers have signed free agent outfielder Austin Slater.
No word yet on the financial terms of the contract, but it’s expected to be a one-year deal. Heyman notes that Slater had discussions with the Yankees as well but ultimately chose the Tigers instead. The 33-year-old lefty masher nicely compliments the plethora of left-handed bats that the Tigers currently have on their roster.
  • NYM Infield #12
Mets’ president of baseball operations David Stearns told reporters on Tuesday that Francisco Lindor could require surgery for a stress reaction in his left hamate bone.
If he was forced to go under the knife, Lindor would need around six weeks of recovery time. The superstar shortstop said that he’s confident that even if he did have the procedure done that he would be ready for the start of the regular season. Keep in mind though, historically, players who have had issues with their hamate bone have experienced a decline in their power output, at least initially.
  • NYM Pitcher #75
Mets placed RHP Reed Garrett on the 60-day injured list.
This move was inevitable as Garrett underwent Tommy John surgery in October and will miss the entirety of the 2026 season. This was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the Mets’ 40-man roster for the addition of Bryan Hudson on Tuesday.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #60
Mets acquired LHP Bryan Hudon from the White Sox for cash considerations.
With AJ Minter (lat) expected to open the season on the injured list, the Mets wanted to add second capable left-hander to their bullpen mix to work alongside Brooks Raley. Hudson will get the chance to compete for that job with Joe Jacques and Anderson Severino during spring training.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #35
Tigers signed RHP Justin Verlander to a one-year, $13 million contract.
The 42-year-old future Hall of Famer returns to the organization that made him the second overall pick in the draft way back in 2004. Verlander spent the first 12 and a half seasons of his big league career with the Tigers before being shipped to the Astros in a deadline deal in 2017. He’s still 34 victories away from 300 for his career, a milestone that Verlander wants to achieve before he retires. He adds quality depth to the back end of what’s shaping up to be a fearsome Tigers’ rotation.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #60
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Mets have agreed to acquire left-hander Bryan Hudson from the White Sox for cash considerations.
The White Sox designated Hudson for assignment over the weekend and the Mets took advantage by making them a cash offer for the 28-year-old southpaw. Hudson has proven to be a viable bullpen arm over the past couple of seasons and should add quality depth to the Mets’ bullpen mix.
  • AZ Pitcher #27
Diamondbacks placed LHP Andrew Saalfrank on the 60-day injured list with a torn left labrum.
The Diamondbacks announced the unfortunate news on Tuesday that Saalfrank had to undergo shoulder surgery and would miss the entire 2026 season. Placing him on the 60-day injured list now frees up a roster spot for the club to make the signing of Carlos Santana official. Saalfrank should be fully recovered and ready to go for the start of spring training in 2027.
  • AZ 1st Baseman #41
Diamondbacks signed 1B Carlos Santana to a one-year, $2 million contract.
The deal which was agreed to last week, is official now that Santana has passed his physical. The 39-year-old hit just .219/.308/.325 with 11 homers and seven stolen bases during his time with the Guardians and Cubs in 2025, so it’s difficult to envision a career renaissance in 2026. He’ll share time at first base and designated hitter with Pavin Smith and Tyler Locklear.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #19
Rockies signed RHP Tomoyuki Sugano to a one-year, $5.1 million contract.
The Rockies desperately needed to increase the depth of their starting rotation, but signing an underperforming 36-year-old hurler with severe home run issues and expecting him to pitch well at Coors Field seems like a stretch. Like most Rockies’ starting pitchers, Sugano should be completely avoided for fantasy purposes.
