Ervin managed to pass through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment last week and will remain with the Braves organization. He’s bounced around between the four different teams over the last year, but appears to be sticking around for a bit with Atlanta. He’ll open the year as extra outfield depth Triple-A Gwinnett.

Tong will take the ball after opener Huascar Brazobán on Wednesday night at Citi Field. The 22-year-old top prospect tossed three hitless innings with a pair of strikeouts in his season debut against the Marlins last Friday. There’s some clear streaming appeal in deeper mixed leagues based on his strikeout upside, especially against a Reds lineup that has been fairly pedestrian this season.

Mitchell’s home run was his third. He hit a three-run home run off Cardinals reliever Ryan Fernandez in the fifth inning. Mitchell continues to start in centerfield, but already has 60 strikeouts in 137 at-bats. He doesn’t have much value outside of NL-Only leagues.

Bauers’ home run was his eighth of the season. He hit a solo shot off Michael McGreevy in the fourth inning. Bauers continues to produce, hitting .290 with an .858 OPS. He’ll continue to be a fixture in the lineup against right-handed pitching.

Both RBI came on a double to the left-center gap in the first. Suárez hit that one 103 mph, reached 104 mph on the single and also had a 97-mph groundout. That’s nice progress for a slugger who had just a 20 percent hard-hit rate in 108 plate appearances coming into the night. He’s usually around 40 percent and came in a career-best 48 percent last year.

Burns had a shutout going into the sixth, when Bo Bichette singled with one out and Juan Soto hit a two-run homer. A.J. Ewing followed with another single, ending Burns’ night. Still, Burns was good enough to improve to 7-1 with a 1.96 ERA. He’s turned in six straight quality starts and it’d be eight in a row if he’d gotten one more out on Apr. 21 against the Rays. He’ll likely make his next start Monday against the Royals.

The Mets have Jack Wenninger pitching quite well in Triple-A and might want to give him a chance in Peterson’s spot after this. Peterson is 3-5 with a 5.57 ERA, even though he’s allowed just two homers in 53 1/3 innings. His main problem is a ridiculous .376 BABIP. It was .579 tonight, even though he allowed just six hard-hit balls and had an average exit velocity of 85 mph. If he stays in the rotation, he’ll face the Mariners next. That Seattle has struggled mightily against lefties this year will probably buy Peterson a little more time.

Soto homered as a DH in his third at-bat back from an illness that cost him two games. It’s his fifth homer in his last six games and seventh in his last 11. He had totaled four in 27 games through May 13.

Faedo heads to Los Angeles as a zero-risk depth addition after being limited to just six appearances in the minors in Tampa Bay’s system last year. The 30-year-old posted a serviceable 4.51 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 157/73 K/BB ratio across 175 2/3 innings for the Tigers from 2022-2024.

McGreevy gave up seven hits, walked three and struck out six. He fell to 3-4 with the loss. McGreevy’s ERA is up to 2.98 while his xFIP is 3.77, showing he’s still not as good as his ERA. Fantasy managers should tread lightly with McGreevy. He’s lined up to face the Rangers next week.

Harrison gave up four hits, walked none and struck out two. He improved to 6-1 with the win. Harrison lowered his ERA to 1.57 while he has a 2.93 xFIP. Harrison has been a fantasy ace in his first season with the Brewers. He’s lined up to face the Giants at home next week.
