Marlins transferred RHP Jorge Guzman to the 60-day injured list.

Guzman landed on the injured list last month due to soreness in his right elbow and now it’s clear that he’ll miss the remainder of the 2021 season. While no corresponding move has been announced yet, this will free up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster.

Evan Carter (oblique) went 2-for-2 with a solo homer on Friday in a minor league rehab game for Double-A Frisco.

Carter clobbered a leadoff homer and reached base safely in all three of his plate appearances during his rehab debut. He also logged five innings in center field. The 23-year-old will likely get a couple additional contests under his belt to get back up to speed before returning to the Rangers lineup. He’s been out with a minor right oblique strain since mid-June.

James Schiano highlights Wyatt Langford's stellar numbers and adjustments at the plate since returning from injury, tapping into the superstar potential he possesses.

Heliot Ramos (quad) went 2-for-3 with an RBI on Friday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Sacramento.

Ramos walked twice, reaching base safely in four of his five plate appearances during his latest rehab contest. The 26-year-old corner outfielder could potentially rejoin San Francisco’s lineup this weekend or when they kick off an extended road trip against the Diamondback on Monday. He’s been on the shelf with a quad strain since mid-May.

Teoscar Hernández (hamstring) blasted a two-run homer on Friday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The probability feels extremely high that Hernández will be activated from the injured list at some point this weekend or early next week. The 33-year-old veteran slugger went deep for the third consecutive rehab contest on Friday evening while playing six innings in left field. The original expectation was that he would be ready for Monday’s series opener against the Athletics, but he could potentially make it back for the final two games of their current series against the division-rival Padres.

Cardinals OF prospect Joshua Báez went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts on Friday for Triple-A Memphis.

Báez possesses stratospheric raw power potential, and while he’s made some strides recently in the contact department, he’s still struck out nearly 27 percent of the time since the start of June. He’s launched 10 homers during that 20-game sample size, which matters exponentially more. However, the persistent strikeout issues are probably the biggest reason why the Cardinals are having him continue his development on the doorstep of the majors as opposed to bringing him up and exposing him to big-league arms. His time is coming later this summer, and he projects as an immediate power/speed combo source, which makes Báez a worthwhile stash candidate in all fantasy leagues.

Noah Schultz (knee) struck out seven and allowed two runs over 4 2/3 innings on Friday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Charlotte.

Schultz got his pitch count up to 74 (52 strikes) in his third rehab start as he continues to work his way back from a knee issue that put him on the shelf back in late May. All signs point to the exciting 22-year-old rookie making it back to Chicago’s rotation at some point in the middle of next week.

Romy Gonzalez (shoulder, hip) went 0-for-3 with a walk on Friday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Worcester.

The original plan was for Gonzalez to be ready for Saturday’s showdown against the Yankees, so fantasy managers should expect him to be officially activated prior to first pitch. The 29-year-old has been out working his way back from shoulder surgery and a hip issue that cropped up during his rehabilitation process.

Dylan Beavers (oblique) went 0-for-4 on Friday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Norfolk.

It’s possible Beavers winds up staying in the minors once he completes his rehab assignment since the Orioles don’t really have a spot for him at the moment. The 24-year-old former top prospect was hitting .243/.331/.369 with two homers and three steals in 119 plate appearances prior to landing on the shelf with an oblique strain back in mid-May.

Dean Kremer (quad) struck out eight over 6 2/3 scoreless innings on Friday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Norfolk.

Kremer threw 50 of 79 pitches for strikes in his latest rehab outing and appears on the verge of rejoining the Orioles rotation mix later next week. The 30-year-old has been out with a quad strain since late April. He doesn’t offer enough strikeout upside to be a consistent fantasy option outside of AL-only formats but his return will provide a boost to the back-end of Baltimore’s rotation.

Emilio Pagán (hamstring) tossed a scoreless inning on Friday in a minor league rehab appearance for Triple-A Louisville.

The Reds could certainly use Pagán back to shore up the back-end of their bullpen with Tony Santillan hitting the injured list with an oblique strain prior to Friday’s series opener against the Pirates. The 35-year-old veteran stopper’s return to Cincinnati’s relief corps feels imminent and he should be rostered in any fantasy leagues where he somehow ended up on the waiver wire after suffering a hamstring strain back in early May.

Mariners LHP prospect Kade Anderson recorded nine strikeouts and allowed two runs over five innings on Friday for Double-A Arkansas.

Anderson’s remarkable 27 1/3 scoreless innings streak was snapped in the opening frame on Friday night, but he still managed to turn in another dominant performance. He’s recorded at least eight strikeouts in eight of his first 13 professional starts since being selected third overall in last year’s MLB Draft. He’s put together one of the best Double-A campaigns in recent memory with a microscopic 1.22 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 99/10 K/BB ratio across 66 2/3 innings. The 21-year-old southpaw has emerged as the top pitching prospect in baseball and should arrive in Seattle at some point later this summer following next month’s All-Star break. He’s a viable stash candidate in all fantasy formats based on his massive strikeout upside.
