Cardinals recalled INF/OF Juan Yepez from Triple-A Memphis.
Yepez will take Tyler O’Neill’s place on the active roster after he landed on the injured list with a right foot sprain. The 25-year-old has spent most of the season in Triple-A and recently caught fire, hitting .319/.349/.504 with a 15 percent strikeout rate over his last 27 games.

Spencer Horwitz is back in the leadoff spot for Wednesday’s game against the Cubs.
Horwitz finds himself atop Pittsburgh’s lineup card for the third time in their last four games with Konnor Griffin getting the nod in the other contest. The 28-year-old first baseman has been swinging it well for a couple weeks, slashing .309/.397/.505 with four homers, 20 RBI and one steal over his last 30 games. He’s also drawn 15 walks and struck out only 11 times during that span. He’s certainly earned an extended look as the Pirates’ top-of-the-order table-setter based on his recent production.
    Sabathia digs into baseball superstitions
CC Sabathia and Ahmed Fareed weigh in on baseball superstitions, including ones from CC's playing days and a quirky routine he never forgot about one of his former teammates in New York.
  • TOR 1st Baseman #27
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-3 with a stolen base in a win Wednesday over the Marlins.
  • MIA 2nd Baseman #9
Xavier Edwards went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases in a loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
  • MIA Shortstop #6
Otto Lopez went 4-for-4 with an RBI and two steals in a loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
  • TOR 3rd Baseman #7
Kazuma Okamoto hit a solo homer to help the Blue Jays to a 2-1 win over the Marlins on Wednesday.
Okamoto tied the game at 1-1 with a solo homer in the sixth off Andrew Nardi. The 29-year-old has homered 11 times in his first MLB season, and he’s now up to 29 runs driven in, putting him just under a 90-RBI pace over the first 55 games. Okamoto has had more downs than ups in his rookie campaign, but there have been enough ups to suggest that he has a solid future at this level.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #25
Rhett Lowder (shoulder) faced hitters on Wednesday in a three-inning live batting practice session.
Lowder will make a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Louisville next week. The 24-year-old rookie could rejoin Cincinnati’s rotation shortly afterwards since he wasn’t shut down from throwing for very long after hitting the injured list with shoulder pain back on May 13. He should be ready to return to the Reds rotation by mid-June.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #71
Tyler Rogers worked a scoreless ninth to get a save against the Marlins on Wednesday.
Louis Varland worked the eighth inning and faced the heart of the Miami lineup, so Toronto had Rogers face the bottom of the group and got the job done. It’s his second save of 2026, and he now has a healthy ERA of 2.52. Rogers helps the Blue Jays a lot more than fantasy managers in his set-up role.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #34
Kevin Gausman worked five innings while allowing one run and not qualifying for a decision against he Marlins on Wednesday.
Gausman, 35, scattered six hits and two walks, and he struck out five. He gave up an RBI single to Otto Lopez that scored Xavier Edwards in the first, and while the right-hander dealt with traffic for most of the game, he was able to work around those james for another solid outing. He now has an excellent 3.13 ERA, and will try and lower that figure against Atlanta next week.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #17
Jared Jones (elbow) threw a bullpen session earlier this week.
There should be a clearer idea regarding where Jones will make his next start later this week. The 24-year-old former top pitching prospect struck out six over 4 1/3 innings in his latest rehab outing for Triple-A Indianapolis last weekend. There’s a chance he jumps into Pittsburgh’s rotation later this week, but it wouldn’t be shocking if the club decided to give him another rehab outing. He’s eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list at any point now and should be rostered in all fantasy formats based on his strikeout upside.
  • AZ Left Fielder #10
Jordan Lawlar (wrist) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Wednesday in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League.
Lawlar is presumably a couple weeks out from making it back to Arizona after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured right wrist back in early April. The 23-year-old former top prospect will need a handful of games to get back up to speed following the extended layoff, but he should be ready to return at some point around mid-June.
