Nothing has changed in the recovery prognosis for Carlson — who underwent season-ending ankle surgery on Tuesday — this was merely done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster. The 24-year-old outfielder is expected to be fully recovered and ready to go for the start of spring training.

He scattered six hits and one walk with zero strikeouts. The 25-year-old left-hander ends the day with a 1.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and a 15/10 K/BB ratio across 36 innings. Wrobleski lines up for a home start against the Braves next Sunday.

May tossed a scoreless first inning, then gave up a pair of runs on a walk and two hits in the second. Two more hits brought a third run in to score in the fifth. May would give the Cardinals a scoreless sixth to finish with a quality start against his former team. He struck out three. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 5.15 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and a 25/9 K/BB ratio across 36 2/3 innings into a start against the Padres in San Diego on Friday.

Dominguez led off the sixth inning with a double off of Grant Wolfram and scored the go-ahead run on an infield single off the bat of Ryan McMahon. He then added to that lead with a 348-foot (93.6 mph EV) two-run shot off of Andrew Kittredge in the eighth. He also capped off a seven-run uprising in the frame with a two-run double. With his three-hit attack, the 23-year-old outfielder is now hitting .278/.316/.556 with a homer and four RBI in his first 19 plate appearances with the Bombers.

Judge did his damage off of Orioles’ rookie right-hander Trey Gibson in the third inning, with his 413-foot (107.7 mph EV) two-run blast giving the Yankees a 3-1 advantage. That would be his only hit in three at-bats on the day, though he also drew a walk to finish the day 1-for-3. On the season, the 34-year-old superstar is hitting .264/.403/.628 with the aforementioned 13 long balls and 23 RBI.

The 32-year-old southpaw punched out six batters on the afternoon, though he also issued three free passes. The Orioles scratched out a single run against him in the third inning and pushed two more across in the fourth before Fried wiggled his way out of further trouble. He got 14 whiffs on 107 pitches on the afternoon, posting a CSW of 21 percent. Through his first eight starts, Fried sits at 4-1 with a terrific 2.39 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and a 43/15 K/BB ratio over 52 2/3 innings. He’ll try to get back in the win column when he squares off against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Friday.

Alonso sparked a two-run rally with a leadoff double off of Max Fried in the fourth inning then scored on an RBI single off the bat of Leody Taveras. He hasn’t been quite as fearsome of an addition to the middle of the Orioles’ lineup as they would have hoped thus far, slashing a meager .214/.322/.421 with six homers and 15 RBI in his first 146 plate appearances.

The 23-year-old right-hander struck out two batters on the afternoon while issuing a pair of walks. All of the damage done against him came via the long ball as Ben Rice clobbered a solo homer in the first inning and Aaron Judge got him for a two-run shot in the third. Gibson got six swings and misses on 87 pitches on the day, posting an underwhelming CSW of 20 percent. It’s unclear if he’ll stick around to make another start for the O’s or if he’ll head back to Triple-A Norfolk following his debut.
