Reid Detmers delivered a strong performance in Tuesday night’s victory over the Rangers, piling up seven strikeouts over seven innings of one-run baseball.
The 24-year-old hurler allowed just four hits and four walks on the evening. The lone blemish on his day came as Robbie Grossman plated a run while grounding into a double play in the opening inning. After that, Detmers was magnificent. He generated 10 swings and misses on 100 pitches in the ballgame, posting a respectable CSW of 27 percent. This was supposed to be his final start of the season, but with Patrick Sandoval (oblique) landing on the injured list on Tuesday, there’s a chance that Detmers could take the ball on regular rest for Sunday’s season finale against the Athletics. While he’s finishing the season strong, he still sports an uninspiring 3-10 record, 4.48 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 168/60 K/BB ratio across 148 2/3 innings in 28 starts on the season.
