Brandon Pfaadt matched a season-high with eight strikeouts over 5 2/3 scoreless innings on Wednesday in a win over the White Sox.
Pfaadt, who combined with relievers Luis Frías, Andrew Saalfrank, Ryan Thompson and Paul Sewald on an eight-hit shutout in this one, closes out the regular season with an impressive 22/1 K/BB ratio across 15 2/3 innings of work over his final three starts. The 24-year-old rookie right-hander finishes the regular season with an inflated 5.72 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 94/26 K/BB ratio across 96 innings (19 appearances, 18 starts). He’ll certainly figure into Arizona’s postseason pitching plans.
