Phillies selected the contract of RHP Ricardo Pinto from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Pinto will be making his first big-league appearance since 2019 when he gets into a game for the Phillies. The 30-year-old journeyman gets the call ahead of Tuesday’s showdown against the Reds with veteran reliever Connor Brogdon losing his spot in Philadelphia’s bullpen mix.

Brendan Donovan is DHing for Double-A Arkansas in the first game of a rehab assignment Tuesday.
Donovan is returning from a groin strain. He’s expected to play in two minor league games and then come off the IL on Friday.
Target Red Sox’ Anthony for trade amid injury
Provided he doesn't get bad news about his hand, Roman Anthony could be a good buy-low candidate in fantasy baseball.
  • MIA Center Fielder #87
The Marlins have Jakob Marsee batting fifth and Xavier Edwards leading off against the Orioles on Tuesday.
Marsee had hit exclusively leadoff against righties and third against lefties before being dropped to fifth versus a righty tonight. Marsee has really struggled in batting .185 with one homer, but he has at least walked 21 times to produce a .305 OBP. This hurts has fantasy value some, but the leadoff spot will likely be waiting if he heats up. Edwards had been hitting cleanup of late, but is .333/.411/.465 line works everywhere.
  • TOR Right Fielder #4
George Springer is back in the lineup as a designated hitter Tuesday against the Rays.
He’ll bat leadoff against Drew Ramussen. Springer missed the last two games after fouling a ball off his already injured left toe.
  • ATH 3rd Baseman #3
Max Muncy hasn’t resumed baseball activities since going on the injured list on Apr. 28.
Munch fractured his finger on Apr. 13, though since it wasn’t known at the time, he played through the injury for a couple of weeks. One imagines he’ll spend at least another two weeks on the IL.
  • ATH Center Fielder #1
Denzel Clarke has started hitting and running as he makes his way back from a bone bruise in his right foot.
Clarke has been on the IL since Apr. 22, and he’ll likely require a fair amount of time on a rehab assignment before being activated. With Carlos Cortes thriving as a starter against right-handers, Clarke’s playing time might not be what he’s used to when he does return.
  • WSH 1st Baseman #2
Luis Garcia Jr. has a “minor right hand/wrist sprain” but claims he will not go on the injured list.
For now, we should treat Garcia Jr. as if he’s day-to-day, but that could obviously change if his wrist doesn’t respond in the next few days.
  • NYY 1st Baseman #22
Ben Rice (hand) is not in the starting lineup against the Rangers on Tuesday.
This is now the second straight game that Rice has missed since suffering a “contusion” in Sunday’s game. The Yankees have not put him on the injured list, so he could return later this week. For now, Paul Goldschmidt will continue to play first base.
  • DET 2nd Baseman #39
Tigers activated INF Zach McKinstry (hip) from the 10-day injured list.
McKinstry has been on the injured list for about three weeks, so it’s nice to get him back. With Javier Baez (ankle) on the injured list now, McKinstry should settle into an every-day role against right-handed pitching, but he might do so at a bunch of different positions.
  • DET Shortstop #38
Tigers designated INF Zack Short for assignment.
Short was just traded for on Monday and played one game for the Tigers. However, with Zach McKinstry coming off the injured list, Short was no longer needed in Detroit. Perhaps the Tigers can sign him back on a minor league deal if he clears waivers.
  • TB Starting Pitcher
Rays recalled RHP Chase Solesky from Triple-A Durham.
With Steven Matz (elbow) landing on the injured list, the Rays have brought Solesky up from the minors. However, one has to wonder if this is just to provide length out of the bullpen because Solesky has a 6.57 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in six starts at Triple-A this season.
