Plesac had been cruising through Friday’s start against the Tigers, then suddenly forgot how to throw strikes with two outs in the third inning. He’ll continue to work through his issues at the Triple-A level. Andrew Wantz was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday to provide a fresh arm in the Angels’ bullpen.

Muncy scored the go-ahead run on Kiké Hernández’s double in the seventh and then singled in an insurance run in the eighth. He has seven hits, including a homer and three doubles, in his last four games.

Sheehan didn’t get the win; he would have needed to record two more outs, since the Dodgers didn’t take the lead until the bottom of the seventh. Fantasy owners have to be disappointed to have missed out on Sheehan’s performance after the Dodgers’ surprising decision to demote him earlier this week, but it looks like the team had this plotted out. It’s unclear if Sheehan will get another start. The Dodgers are probably going to want him in the pen during the postseason, though he would be the top rotation alternative in the event of a Blake Snell setback.

Scott blew his previous save chance Monday against the Marlins, but this is his third scoreless inning since. He has a 2.77 ERA in 61 2/3 innings.

Wilkinson was 0-3 with a 7.11 ERA in his three starts for the Giants, but he did very well today, allowing just three hits and walking none. He left with a 1-0 lead, but that vanished right away in the sixth. Wilkinson will likely make another start against the Dodgers next weekend.

It doesn’t currently sound like a major setback for Schmidt, but the next couple of days will be telling. He was slated to make his second appearance back from Tommy John today against the D-backs.

The original plan was for Sasaki to go long as either a starter or a bulk guy, but now it looks like this might be more of a traditional relief outing to get him ready for coming out of the pen in October. It’ll be Sasaki’s first appearance since he went on the IL with a finger blister at the end of August.

Melton was just getting a visit from the pitching coach before the coach signaled to the trainer to come out, and Melton didn’t seem to make any argument to remain in the game. He allowed three runs in 3 2/3 innings versus the White Sox before departing.

It’s the first time in 16 starts this year that Kremer has pitched shutout ball. He’s a fine 3-1 with a 3.80 ERA in nine starts for the Twins after going 1-4 with a 6.50 ERA for the Orioles. He’ll wrap things up with a start against the Rangers next weekend.

Ober was expected to start Monday against the Giants, but the Twins instead used him to give a weary bullpen a break today. Zebby Matthews presumably will now start on four days’ rest tomorrow. Ober still could get another start next weekend or maybe even Wednesday against the Giants, but we’ll see.

Johnson was actually quite good today in striking out six and walking none. He allowed seven hits, but they were all singles, and he gave up only three hard-hit balls. The loss makes him 5-9 with a 4.53 ERA, but he’s made nice gains this year and he should be a legitimate rotation option next spring. First, he’s likely looking at one more start against the Mariners.
