Schwarber finally broke a scoreless tie as he clobbered a 417-foot (110.4 mph EV) two-run shot off of Tyler Samaniego. That would be his only time reaching base in five plate appearances while striking out three times in the contest. For the season, the 33-year-old slugger is now slashing .226/.355/.610 with a monstrous 18 homers and 30 RBI.

Duran notched his seventh save of the season for his efforts. He did issue a one-out walk to Masataka Yoshida that brought the tying run to the dish, but he struck out each of the other three hitters that he faced to quell that threat. The 28-year-old stopper has been dominant when he has taken the hill this season, compiling a 1.54 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 19/5 K/BB ratio over 11 2/3 innings while converting each of his first seven save chances.

Luzardo punched out four opposing hitters in the contest. Twice the Red Sox put a runner at third base against him with less than two outs — and both times Luzardo made the big hntil the eighth inning though, forcing Luzardo to have to settle for a no-decision despite his brilliant work. He’ll attempt to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 5.07 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 61/13 K/BB ratio (49 2/3 innings) into Tuesday’s battle against the Reds.

Monasterio smacked a one-out double off of Jose Alvarado in the eighth inning and scored on a run-scoring single off the bat of Wilyer Abreu, pulling the Red Sox to within two runs at 3-1. That would be as close as they would get. With his two-hit attack, the 28-year-old lefty-masher is now hitting .258/.313/.419 with one homer, nine RBI and one stolen base through his first 67 plate appearances.

Suarez showed zero signs of rust after being shelved for more than a week due to right hamstring tightness. The 30-year-old southpaw racked up eight strikeouts on the night while issuing only one base on balls. Unfortunately for Suarez and his fantasy managers, the Red Sox couldn’t scratch out a single run of support for him. He generated 11 swings and misses on 76 pitches on the night, registering a solid CSW of 30 percent. Suarez will carry a stellar 2.44 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and a 40/11 K/BB ratio (44 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the royals in Kansas City.

The 32-year-old right-hander was granted his release on Saturday so that he could explore the open market, but ultimately, he decided that the best option for him would be to rejoin the Brewers on a minor league contract. He’ll return to Triple-A Nashville where he posted a 2.25 ERA and 23/11 K/BB ratio over 16 innings in his first 11 appearances.

The 24-year-old backstop had been with the Angels for the past week to add depth behind the plate while Logan O’Hoppe was sidelined. He went 1-for-3 with a strikeout in his limited action with the Halos. O’Hoppe is expected to be activated from the injured list on Friday to take his place on the active roster.

The 31-year-old hurler was designated for assignment last weekend but he passed through waivers unclaimed and accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A. He’ll continue to function as extra bullpen depth for the Guardians and should get another opportunity with the big league club at some point this season.
