Ranger Suarez was terrific in a no-decision against his former ballclub on Thursday evening, scattering four hits over 5 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball against the Phillies.
Suarez showed zero signs of rust after being shelved for more than a week due to right hamstring tightness. The 30-year-old southpaw racked up eight strikeouts on the night while issuing only one base on balls. Unfortunately for Suarez and his fantasy managers, the Red Sox couldn’t scratch out a single run of support for him. He generated 11 swings and misses on 76 pitches on the night, registering a solid CSW of 30 percent. Suarez will carry a stellar 2.44 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and a 40/11 K/BB ratio (44 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the royals in Kansas City.
