Green receives a new contract to stay on as New York’s permanent manager after spending the last three months as the club’s interim skipper. Mets president David Stearns ultimately decided to reverse course on hiring a new manager after Green, who hasn’t managed since being dismissed by the Padres back in 2019, did an admirable job navigating the injury-ravaged Mets following Carlos Mendoza’s dismissal in late June. He’s displayed an uncanny knack for saying the right thing to the media when faced with difficult situations over the last few weeks and has certainly earned the opportunity to lead New York’s relatively young nucleus for the next couple seasons.

It doesn’t sound like Bregman is going on the injured list for the final week of the regular season. However, he won’t be available in any capacity after being diagnosed with multiple facial fractures. The 32-year-old third baseman was injured in a freak accident where he was struck by a foul ball in the on-deck circle over the weekend. He’s aiming to make it back for the postseason. The talented 23-year-old former top prospect is unlikely to work too deep into this outing with the Red Sox having already clinched a playoff spot, but he’s still worth rolling with in nearly all fantasy leagues. This will likely be his final regular-season outing before the Red Sox face the Yankees in the playoffs.

Rocchio is back at shortstop and hitting ninth after sitting out Sunday’s series finale against the Athletics with left leg tightness. It doesn’t appear to be a significant concern as Cleveland enters the final week needing to finish one game ahead of the White Sox, who hold the head-to-head tiebreaker, to win the AL Central.
