Austin Gomber pitched six innings of two-run ball against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Gomber left with a one-run lead, but it failed to hold up. He’s been just a tad shy of being a league-average starter for this year, yet he’s picked up all of three wins in 23 starts. Unfortunately, the Rockies’ omnipresent incompetence is something that will cost him significant money in arbitration this winter.

Hogan Harris pitched a 1-2-3 inning for his first save of the year against the Yankees on Thursday.
The Yankees had stacked three lefties back-to-back-to-back after pinch-running for Giancarlo Stanton with Jazz Chisholm, so the Athletics turned to the lefty to get through the final three outs of a 1-0 win. Three different A’s have saves this year and guessing which pitcher will get one feels more like chance than anything.
Fantasy fallout from Lopez, Soler suspensions
James Schiano examines the fantasy implications of suspensions handed out to Reynaldo Lopez and Jorge Soler, weighing in on how they impact Braves pitchers and the Angels' outfield.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher #59
Jeffrey Springs threw seven shutout innings against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing just one hit while picking up the win.
He made it through six no-hit innings before Ben Rice pulled a single past Nick Kurtz in the seventh. Springs struck out six and generated 14 whiffs, including four against the slider and five against both his fastball and changeup. Springs wasn’t quite a must-start, but this certainly bolsters the resume ahead of an upcoming set against the Rangers. He’s got a 1.47 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 18 1/3 innings through his first three turns.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #40
Ryan Weathers threw eight innings and struck out seven while allowing just one run against the A’s Thursday.
Weathers topped out at 97 and generated 12 whiffs against the Athletics, including four each with his sweeper and four-seam fastball. (His “secondary” fastball.) He also walked none. It’s his best start in a Yankees uniform and cuts his season ERA to 2.81. Weathers figures to be a potential starter even in 10-team leagues against the Angels next week.
  • DET Center Fielder #22
Parker Meadows was removed from Thursday afternoon’s game against the Twins after a scary collision with teammate Riley Greene in the outfield.
The two players were converging on a fly ball in the eighth inning and Meadows took the brunt of the hit, remaining on the ground for several minutes afterwards and bleeding from the mouth before being carted off of the field. It appeared as though his head collided with Greene and again hit the ground, so it sounds like he’ll need to be put through the concussion protocol before he’s able to return. The Tigers should provide an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.
  • MIA 3rd Baseman #63
FishOnFirst’s Kevin Barral reports the Marlins are calling up 1B/3B Deyvison De Los Santos.
That augurs badly for Griffin Conine’s knee, in theory. De Los Santos was briefly called up in March before the Marlins claimed Leo Jimenez off waivers. It’s possible he’ll get real playing time for the Marlins, but fantasy managers should probably take a wait-and-see approach.
  • KC Center Fielder #28
Kyle Isbel is starting against the White Sox on Thursday.
It’s notable mostly because Isbel often sits against left-handers, but with a .429/.467/.679 batting line in his first 31 plate appearances, the Royals will see if he can stay hot rather than turning to Starling Marte against LHP Anthony Kay.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #64
Royals optioned RHP Steven Cruz to Triple-A Omaha.
Technically they “optioined” him per their X account. Cruz has allowed an MLB-high four homers out of the bullpen and carries a bloated 14.40 ERA. This feels like a “get right” demotion.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #58
Royals optioned RHP Luinder Avila to Triple-A Omaha.
Avila allowed just one run in three innings on Wednesday backing up Cole Ragans, but carries a 9.00 ERA on the year and will likely spend a lot of time on the Omaha/Kansas City shuffle this year.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #54
Royals recalled RHP Mitch Spence from Triple-A Omaha.
Spence threw five innings in his first start in Omaha, allowing just one run in five innings despite striking out one. It’s possible he’s a bulk reliever or starter over the weekend if the Royals want to shift some pitchers around in the wake of Cole Ragans leaving yesterday’s start early.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #34
Royals recalled RHP Eli Morgan from Triple-A Omaha.
Morgan pitched three scoreless innings for a bullpen-saving save in his Royals debut on Saturday. He’ll return to give the pen a fresh arm through the weekend.
