Orioles activated LHP Keegan Akin from paternity list.
Akin returns after three days on the paternity list. He’s been a key member of the Orioles bullpen this year with a 3.52 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 78 strikeouts in 64 innings.

Kodai Senga (back) allowed three runs over five innings on Wednesday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse.
Senga struck out five and issued two walks. He also hit two batters and uncorked a pair of wild pitches while topping out at 95.7 mph. The 33-year-old could be an option for New York’s pitching equation next week, but odds are he’ll need another rehab outing before he gets the call back to the majors. It’s extremely challenging for fantasy managers to trust him at all given how volatile he’s been for the last few years.
Judge seeing specialist for 'nagging' rib bruise
The New York Yankees could be facing time without reigning AL MVP Aaron Judge, who is seeing a specialist for an upper rib bone bruise he is thought to have suffered May 3.
  • STL Left Fielder #21
Lars Nootbaar (heel) went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and four RBI during his final minor league rehab contest on Wednesday for Triple-A Memphis.
Nootbaar has wrapped up a minor league rehab assignment and will rejoin the Cardinals for Friday’s contest at Busch Stadium after missing the first 10 weeks of the season recovering from offseason surgery on his heels. The 28-year-old will take over as St. Louis’ starting left fielder. He offers some appeal as a power/speed source in deeper mixed leagues but hasn’t topped 15 homers or 11 steals in any of the last five seasons.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #40
Chris Bassitt left Wednesday’s start against the Red Sox with a possible injury.
Bassitt allowed three runs on six hits, including a homer by Wilyer Abreu, over three innings of work. He didn’t look comfortable during his final frame before being replaced by Albert Suárez after throwing just 56 pitches (35 strikes). There should be an update on his status following the contest.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #24
Blue Jays acquired RHP Simeon Woods Richardson from the Twins for cash.
Woods Richardson provides Toronto’s injury-ravaged pitching staff with some much-needed rotation depth after being jettisoned from Minnesota’s roster last weekend. The 25-year-old was shipped to the Twins as part of the José Berríos trade a half-decade ago. He’s struggled mightily this season with a bloated 7.74 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 25/26 K/BB ratio across 47 2/3 innings. However, he makes sense as a temporary stopgap solution for the Blue Jays until Dylan Cease (hamstring), Max Scherzer (forearm) and Shane Bieber (elbow) are ready to return from the injured list.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #35
Blue Jays transferred LHP Joe Mantiply to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move opened up a spot on Toronto’s 40-man roster for Simeon Woods Richardson. The 35-year-old lefty reliever is facing a lengthy absence after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee back in late May.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #17
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Shohei Ohtani will be out of the lineup for Thursday’s series finale against the Diamondbacks.
Roberts added that Ohtani will be available off the bench, but won’t be in the lineup after a two-way outing during Wednesday’s contest at Chase Field. It makes sense that the Dodgers want to build in some extra rest to keep the 31-year-old unicorn fresh for the full season. He’s had a remarkable year with a 0.82 ERA across 55 innings on the mound.
  • COL Right Fielder #2
Tyler Freeman (leg) is in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Angels.
Freeman is back in right field and hitting second after a one-game absence due to lower leg soreness. The 27-year-old outfielder has been locked-in at the plate recently, hitting .400 (10-for-25) with one RBI and one steal over his last seven games.
  • SEA Catcher #29
Cal Raleigh (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with High-A Everett on Sunday.
Raleigh will head to Triple-A Tacoma next week before potentially making it back to Seattle at some point around mid-June. The 29-year-old slugging backstop has been on the shelf recovering from a right oblique strain since mid-May. It was his first-ever trip to the injured list during his six-year career. There’s stil plenty of time for him to turn things around in the second half following a slow start to the year at the dish.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #67
Angels re-signed LHP Joey Lucchesi to a minor league contract.
Lucchesi spent a couple days on the open market but winds up back with the Angels on a new deal. The 32-year-old southpaw made five relief appearances for Los Angeles earlier this year. He’s emergency depth at this stage of his career.
  • LAA 1st Baseman #18
Angels manager Kurt Suzuki said Nolan Schanuel (ankle) could be activated from the injured list for Friday’s series opener against the Dodgers.
Schanuel was diagnosed with ankle tendinitis after hitting the injured list back on May 27. The 24-year-old first baseman isn’t expected to miss too much time and it sounds like there’s a strong possibility he returns for this weekend’s series against the Dodgers.
