Springs struck out a pair of opposing hitters in the contest and didn’t walk a batter. Most of the damage done against him came in the third inning as Willy Adames blasted a two-run homer and Wilmer Flores followed with a solo shot. Fantasy managers should expect inconsistency from Springs in his first season back from Tommy John surgery, so the 5.02 ERA and 1.95 WHIP over 14 1/3 innings in Cactus League action aren’t terribly surprising as he continues to work his way back.

It’s a great sign to see Arraez back at second base and hitting second after missing Sunday’s series finale against the Orioles with a wrist contusion. The 29-year-old suffered the injury during a bizarre on-field collision when he was inadvertently kicked by Baltimore rookie Dylan Beavers while making a throw to first base during Saturday’s game.

No word on the reason for the move. Thomas Saggese takes over in left field to face Guardians starter Joey Cantillo.

The move frees up a spot on Toronto’s active roster for recent addition Lenyn Sosa. The 28-year-old infielder didn’t end up making an appearance for the Blue Jays after being brought up from the minors last week.

McGarry provides Los Angeles with a serviceable relief option after failing to make Washington’s bullpen as a Rule 5 selection in spring training, which led to him being returned to the Phillies. The 26-year-old has yet to appear in the majors and will head to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Baltimore’s first-year manager isn’t expected to miss any time after a scary moment during Monday’s game against the Diamondbacks when he was struck on the right side of the face by a foul ball in the dugout. He joked with reporters that he’ll be standing in the exact same spot during Tuesday’s contest. Jokes aside, it’s a massive relief that he didn’t suffer a more significant injury that would’ve taken him away from the club.

It’s an encouraging sign that Goodman is back handling the catching duties following a pair of games at DH over the weekend after suffering a finger laceration last Thursday. The 26-year-old backstop is hitting .241 with two homers and five RBI through 16 games.

Roberts will need to miss at least two weeks with the cut on his finger. The 28-year-old will be replaced on the roster by Ryan Rolison, with Rolison recalled in a corresponding move.

Barnes worked three innings in Monday’s loss to the Phillies while allowing three runs. He’ll head back to help the Cubs replenish their bullpen depth, and likely will be a multi-inning option again at some point in 2026.

Giolito is the biggest name that still hasn’t signed on for the 2026 season; a surprise for a hurler that was solid over 26 starts in 2025 with a 3.41 ERA. Both San Diego and Chicago could use an arm like his in their rotation — few couldn’t, to be fair — and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him latch on with either club in the coming weeks. Giolito has reportedly maintained a 75-pitch count this offseason, but still would almost assuredly need a few starts in the minors before making the jump to the bigs.

The move is necessitated to clear 40-man roster room for Patrick Wisdom. Castaño is just organizational fodder, and while a team could put in a waiver claim, it’s just as likely that he’ll report back to Triple-A Tacoma.
