Jeffrey Springs struggled in Sunday’s spring tune-up against the Giants, giving up four runs on eight hits in his 3 2/3 innings of work.
Springs struck out a pair of opposing hitters in the contest and didn’t walk a batter. Most of the damage done against him came in the third inning as Willy Adames blasted a two-run homer and Wilmer Flores followed with a solo shot. Fantasy managers should expect inconsistency from Springs in his first season back from Tommy John surgery, so the 5.02 ERA and 1.95 WHIP over 14 1/3 innings in Cactus League action aren’t terribly surprising as he continues to work his way back.
