Heliot Ramos hit a two-run homer off the Reds’ Hunter Greene on Thursday.
Ramos struck out in his other three at-bats, but that’s OK. The Giants did wind up hitting him fifth today. That was the expectation for most of March, but it seemed like the team might be wavering at the end of the spring; Ramos led off twice in the Giants’ final three games. It’s possible he’ll lead off against lefties and continue to hit in the middle of the order versus righties.

Jason Foley (shoulder) has been pulled off a minor league rehab assignment due to fatigue.
There was optimism Foley would return to San Francisco’s relief mix relatively soon, but that’s no longer happening. The 30-year-old will be shut down for the next few days before potentially being cleared to resume throwing this weekend. He’s been working his way back from last year’s shoulder surgery and should be ready to contribute around midseason.
LAD 'don't have a reason' to rush Glasnow return
Eric Samulski reacts to Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow being moved to the 60-day IL with back spasms and offers advice for fantasy managers on how to manage his absence.
  • FA Left Fielder #0
    Rangers released OF Sam Haggerty.
Haggerty passed through waivers unclaimed and hits the open market following a two-year stint with the Rangers where he got into exactly 100 games for the club. The 32-year-old still makes sense as a bench outfielder and should be able to find a new opportunity relatively quickly.
  • BOS Left Fielder #19
Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said Roman Anthony (wrist, finger) remains shut down from swinging.
Anthony still hasn’t resumed swinging a bat after being shut down last week following renewed discomfort. The 22-year-old remains in a bit of a holding pattern in his recovery from wrist and finger issues since he can’t really ramp up baseball activities if he’s still experiencing symptoms. There is no timetable for his return and fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back anytime soon. It’s starting to look like a potential lost season for one of the most explosive young talents in the game, which is frustrating for everyone.
  • COL Shortstop #1
Rockies acquired SS Richie Martin Jr. from the Rangers for cash.
Martin last appeared in the big leagues during the 2022 campaign when he got into 13 games for the Orioles. The 31-year-old is merely emergency organizational infield depth at this stage of his career.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #41
Brewers RHP Jake Woodford elected free agency.
Woodford hits the free agent pool after passing through waivers unclaimed following his removal from Milwaukee’s roster mix. The 29-year-old journeyman posted an underwhelming 6.94 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 20/7 K/BB ratio across 23 1/3 innings during his time with the Brewers. He should be able to latch on somewhere else as emergency relief depth.
  • SD Designated Hitter #41
Miguel Andujar (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Reds.
Padres manager Craig Stammen told reporters there’s a chance Andujar is available off the bench, which seemingly signals that a trip to the injured list is off the table. The 31-year-old was lifted from Sunday’s game with hamstring tightness. It’ll be Gavin Sheets handling DH on Monday night in his absence.
  • CIN Shortstop #2
Edwin Arroyo is at second base and hitting ninth on Monday against the Padres.
Arroyo has gotten an opportunity at the keystone in four of seven contests since being called up from Triple-A Louisville last week. The 22-year-old top prospect is just 3-for-14 at the dish so far. He has a real chance to push Matt McLain for the everyday role at second base once Elly De La Cruz (hamstring) is back from the injured list later this month.
  • LAA 1st Baseman #18
Nolan Schanuel (ankle) is out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Astros.
Trey Mancini takes over at the cold corner in his first big-league appearance since 2023. Schanuel is playing through ankle tendinitis that put him on the injured list back in late May. The expectation is that he’ll be able to manage the situation and avoid a return trip to the injured list, but he’ll probably need some additional time off this week.
  • LAA 1st Baseman #34
Angels selected the contract of 1B/OF Trey Mancini from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Mancini hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since the 2023 campaign when he got into 79 games for the Cubs. The 34-year-old figures to see action at first base and DH, with Vaughn Grissom (oblique) on the injured list and Nolan Schanuel dealing with a lingering ankle issue, after batting .273/.377/.464 with six homers in 224 plate appearances over 52 games at the Triple-A level this season.
  • LAA Shortstop #43
Angels recalled INF Denzer Guzman from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Guzman earns another opportunity with the Angels as their primary third baseman after slashing a robust .336/.403/.571 with 12 homers and nine steals across 268 plate appearances over 58 games in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League this season. The 22-year-old infielder batted .190 (8-for-42) with two homers during a 13-game cameo with Los Angeles late last season. He’s an interesting talent, but he’ll need to show something at the highest level to earn an everyday role and sustained fantasy value.
