Reds manager Terry Francona told reporters that there hasn’t been a decision made regarding when Alexis Díaz (hamstring) will be activated from the injured list.
It’s also unclear Francona will entrust Díaz — who spoke to reporters on Sunday in the Reds clubhouse and noted that he hopes to return soon — with save opportunities right out of the gate after the pair seemingly got off to a rocky start during spring training before the latter suffered a hamstring strain. The 28-year-old former closer struggled with his control in five rehab outings, but his closing experience makes him a true wild card moving forward. His return complicates things for Emilio Pagán and Tony Santillan, who have been getting the majority of early-season save chances for Cincinnati.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters he doesn’t expect Tyler Glasnow (back) to require a trip to the injured list.
Roberts added that Glasnow will undergo a precautionary MRI to rule out anything serious after he experienced back spasms that led to his removal from Wednesday’s start against the Astros after just one inning. There should be a clearer idea of his status at some point later this week, but early indications are that Glasnow will make his next start against the Giants next Wednesday.
Can Okamoto turn hot streak into consistency?
Kazuma Okamoto is scorching the ball. What does that mean for his long-term fantasy abseball outlook?
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #43
Lance McCullers Jr. (finger) told reporters he’s unsure if he’ll make his next start.
McCullers added that a portion of his fingernail on his right index finger popped off while throwing a third-inning curveball, which led to his early exit from the contest. He was charged with six runs over 2 2/3 innings during Wednesday afternoon’s start against the Dodgers. He finished with four strikeouts and also issued three walks. He’s tentatively scheduled to take the ball against the Mariners on Tuesday. There should be an update on his status at some point in the next few days.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #16
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Matthew Boyd will undergo surgery to repair a meniscus injury in his left knee.
Counsell didn’t offer a potential return timeline, but Boyd is facing an extended absence. The 35-year-old southpaw was scheduled to take the ball on Friday against the Rangers his next time out. He’s been limited to just five starts this season due to injury. There should be a definitive update on his status following the surgical procedure. Boyd can be safely dropped in nearly all fantasy formats.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #41
Joe Ryan (elbow) completed a bullpen session on Wednesday.
It sounds like Ryan will be a full-go for Saturday’s contest against the Guardians after making it through Wednesday’s bullpen session without any issues. The 29-year-old underwent an MRI that didn’t reveal any structural damage after leaving his previous start with elbow soreness.
  • KC Right Fielder #14
Jac Caglianone is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the division-rival Guardians.
Kansas City continues to platoon Caglianone against left-handed starters with veteran Starling Marte handling the short-side assignment. The 23-year-old slugger has four homers and eight RBI through 32 games. He’s also struck out in just over 31 percent of his 118 plate appearances this season. Carter Jensen is also on the bench in this one with Cleveland throwing lefty Joey Cantillo.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #55
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Carlos Rodón (elbow) will likely make his season debut against the Brewers on Sunday.
Boone wouldn’t fully commit to it happening, but it sounds like Rodón will make his return to New York’s rotation after missing six weeks at the outset of the year working his way back from offseason elbow surgery. The 33-year-old southpaw allowed six runs and threw 83 pitches in his final minor league rehab start for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday night. It’s worth noting that rookie starter Elmer Rodríguez was also shipped back to the minors on Tuesday evening, clearing a rotation spot.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #61
Royals recalled RHP Eric Cerantola from Triple-A Omaha.
Cerantola receives his first call up to the big leagues to provide Kansas City with some additional bullpen depth. The 26-year-old righty has posted a solid 1.42 ERA and 18/6 K/BB ratio across 12 2/3 innings for Triple-A Omaha this season. He’ll likely operate in middle relief situations.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #32
Royals optioned RHP Stephen Kolek to Triple-A Omaha.
Kolek heads back to the minors after a solid effort where he allowed three runs over six innings against the Guardians in a spot start on Tuesday in place of an injured Noah Cameron (back). It sounds like Kansas City is going to stick with Cameron this weekend instead of letting Kolek take the ball again. That could change if the back issue flares up again.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #48
White Sox activated RHP Jonathan Cannon from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.
Cannon will remain stationed on the doorstep of the majors as organizational depth after completing a rehab assignment. The 25-year-old has been on the shelf since mid-April with hip inflammation.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #38
White Sox activated LHP Chris Murphy from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.
Murphy will remain back in the minors after wrapping up a rehab assignment. The 27-year-old southpaw has been out since early April recovering from an elbow impingement.
