Erick Fedde tossed his first career shutout against his former team as the Cardinals crushed the Nationals 10-0 on Friday.
Fedde’s shutout came with a whopping 15 hard-hit balls allowed. Most of them were grounders, though, and two were double-play balls from Nathaniel Lowe. Fedde wound up allowing six hits, walking none and striking out eight in his first ever complete game. He came into the night with a 4.78 ERA and a 21/21 K/BB in 37 2/3 innings. We still wouldn’t at all recommend picking him up in mixed leagues, and he’ll be a particularly poor play with a road start in Philly coming up.

Braves optioned RHP Bryce Elder to Triple-A Gwinnett.
With Spencer Strider coming back, Elder is getting bounced from the rotation in spite of a run that’s seen him post a 3.10 ERA in his five turns. The Braves might have been better off sticking with Elder and shifting Grant Holmes to the pen, but they weren’t willing to go that route right now.
Romano back on track in late-inning appearances
Eric Samulski examines Phillies relief pitcher Jordan Romano returning to form after a rough start to the season and whether he's worth picking up in fantasy leagues.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #46
Braves recalled LHP Dylan Dodd from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Dodd, up for the first time this year, had a 5.74 ERA but a 21/3 K/BB in 15 2/3 innings out of the pen for Gwinnett. It’s the first real go at relieving for the 2021 third-round pick.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #58
Victor Mederos tossed six shutout innings for Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.
Mederos has been on a roll since joining Salt Lake after a brief major league callup last month; he’s allowed a total of three runs in 17 2/3 innings over three starts. The 23-year-old has only pitched in relief in brief major league stints since debuting in 2023, but he’s a rotation candidate now if anything opens up.
  • COL Shortstop #14
Ezequiel Tovar doubled twice and walked for Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.
He also had a 107-mph lineout. Tovar, on the IL with a hip contusion, should return this weekend. He’s gone 4-for-18 in five rehab games to date.
  • DET 2nd Baseman
Hao-Yu Lee went 4-for-6 with a triple and a double for Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.
The four hits ranged from 101.1 to 110.5 mph off the bat. Lee, 22, is batting .257/.345/.398 with three homers and five steals in his first Triple-A stint, and the Tigers have him splitting time evenly between second and third. He’s probably not going to help the major league club this year, but he could be a factor in 2026, especially if Jace Jung continues to have issues.
  • CHC 3rd Baseman #6
Matt Shaw hit a pair of homers in the second game of a doubleheader for Triple-A Iowa on Thursday.
He also went 1-for-3 with a walk in the first game. Shaw is up to .284/.408/.519 with four homers in 98 plate appearances for Iowa. Throw out his first five games following his demotion, when he was just 1-for-17, and he’s at .344/.440/.641 in his last 17 games.
  • MIN 3rd Baseman #64
Jose Miranda went 0-for-3 for Triple-A St. Paul in Thursday’s game.
Miranda missed four weeks after his demotion last month due to a left-hand injury suffered off the field. He’s played every other day since returning last week and gone 1-for-14 with five strikeouts so far. Clearly, it’s going to be a little while longer before he’s a candidate to rejoin the Twins.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #93
Jacob Misiorowski pitched seven innings of one-run ball for Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.
Only five strikeouts for Misiorowski this time, but he did slightly lower his ERA to 1.46. He hit 103.0 mph in the contest and averaged 98.3 mph on his 49 fastballs. It’d seem to be time for the Brewers to give him a chance.
  • PIT 1st Baseman #2
Spencer Horwitz went 2-for-5 and homered for Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday.
Horwitz got off to a slow start in his rehab assignment from a broken hamate bone, but he’s 6-for-13 the last three days. He’s expected to be activated this weekend, which will probably lead to the demotion of Matt Gorski or Ji Hwan Bae.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #20
Wade Miley gave up three runs in three innings in his first start for Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.
The 38-year-old Miley recently had a setback with a groin injury in his Tommy John rehab, but he’s back at it now. His velocity is close to where it was before he blew out his elbow, and he could be an option for the Reds early next month.
