However, he is the oldest of the Red Sox outfield group, and is highly unlikely to receive a contract extension with Boston that would keep him in a Red Sox uniform until his mid-30s. If the Padres were to dangle top catching prospect Ethan Salas, the Red Sox might be inclined to see if they can make a deal work.
