The Athletic’s Dennis Lin reports that the Padres “have an interest in Red Sox’s Jarren Duran.”
The Padres tried to trade for Duran before the 2024 season, and it seems like their revolving door in left field has brought them back to Duran yet again. The Red Sox might be more interested now with top prospect Roman Anthony banging down the door of the big leagues, and with nowhere to play him. Duran is just 28 years old and making only $3.75 million this season while under team control through 2028. However, he is the oldest of the Red Sox outfield group, and is highly unlikely to receive a contract extension with Boston that would keep him in a Red Sox uniform until his mid-30s. If the Padres were to dangle top catching prospect Ethan Salas, the Red Sox might be inclined to see if they can make a deal work.
