White Sox optioned RHP Wikelman González to Triple-A Charlotte.

González pitched one scoreless inning in his second stint with the White Sox. He still needs to cut down on the walks before he’ll be taken seriously as a bullpen option; he’s issued 34 in 40 2/3 innings in the minors this season.

Braves manager Walt Weiss told reporters Spencer Strider (elbow) will begin a throwing progression this week.

It seems highly unlikely that Strider will return in an impactful role for Atlanta with roughly seven weeks left in the regular season. The 27-year-old is facing a lengthy ramp-up process after being shut down with elbow inflammation back in mid-June. His long-term future as a starting pitcher is in obvious jeopardy given his checkered injury history. It’s possible he’ll be built up as a reliever instead, which would theoretically give him a shot at pitching in the postseason.

Eric Samulski discusses Max Scherzer moving into 10th on MLB's all-time strikeout leaders list over the weekend and what his recent stretch of outings means for his fantasy value.

Blue Jays selected the contract of RHP Simeon Woods Richardson from Triple-A Buffalo.

Woods Richardson provides the Blue Jays with a multi-inning relief option out of the bullpen as they kick off a four-game series against the sizzling-hot Red Sox. The 25-year-old reeled off 10 scoreless frames across three relief outings for Toronto after being acquired from the Twins back in early June.

Blue Jays recalled INF Charles McAdoo from Triple-A Buffalo.

McAdoo receives another chance in a reserve role with the Blue Jays after hitting .160 (4-for-25) with one homer and three RBI during an eight-game stint at the highest level earlier this season. He’s an interesting talent, and his defensive versatility makes him an ideal fit in a multi-positional bench role.

Blue Jays optioned OF Davis Schneider to Triple-A Buffalo.

Schneider simply hasn’t done enough at the highest level to hang onto a roster spot, hitting just .142 (16-for-113) with three homers, 12 RBI and one steal across 61 games for Toronto this season. The 27-year-old has put up some impressive numbers at Triple-A Buffalo, but he needs to show something in the majors for the Blue Jays to entrust him with a more extended opportunity again.

Blue Jays optioned RHP Lazaro Estrada to Triple-A Buffalo.

Estrada has been up-and-down a handful of times over the last few weeks, making seven appearances for the Blue Jays during that span.

Blue Jays designated C Willie MacIver for assignment.

MacIver never made it up with the Blue Jays after coming over from the Rangers in a trade back in late April. The 29-year-old backstop figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and remain with the organization as emergency depth.

Blue Jays sent OF Rudy Martin Jr. outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

Martin will likely stick around with Toronto as organizational depth after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 30-year-old was added to the club’s 40-man roster last month, but never wound up being called up.

Phillies recalled RHP Chase Shugart from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Shugart gets the nod to replace an injured Caleb Kilian (oblique) in Philadelphia’s bullpen prior to Monday’s series opener against the Cardinals. The 29-year-old has compiled an underwhelming 4.93 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 45/16 K/BB ratio across 38 1/3 innings of low-leverage work this season.

Phillies placed RHP Caleb Kilian on the 15-day injured list with a left oblique strain.

There’s a chance that Kilian’s season is over after suffering the injury over the weekend. The 29-year-old was hit hard in four relief outings for the Phillies after coming over from the Giants at the trade deadline last week.

Mets recalled RHP Jonathan Pintaro from Triple-A Syracuse.

Pintaro rejoins New York’s relief mix with closer Devin Williams hitting the injured list with a shoulder strain. The 28-year-old has allowed seven runs with a 15/5 K/BB ratio across 14 1/3 innings at the highest level this season.
