Eugenio Suárez is day-to-day with a right hand contusion after X-rays came back negative for any fractures.
It’s an encouraging update after Suárez — arguably the top name on the block leading into this week’s trade deadline — was plunked on the right hand by a 96-mph fastball in Monday’s series opener in Detroit. The 34-year-old slugger will undergo further evaluation and possibly additional imaging, but initial tests didn’t reveal anything serious. An update on his status should come in before Tuesday’s contest, but it appears the Diamondbacks have avoided disaster.
