Rodríguez returns to the majors to take Seranthony Domínguez’s roster spot after the veteran reliever was dealt to the Blue Jays. The 27-year-old posted a bloated 8.68 ERA across 18 2/3 inning (six appearances, two starts) earlier this season with the Brewers.

Overn, 22, has drawn comparisons to outfielder Jake Mangum, who the Rays are trading away as part of a three-team deal with the Pirates on Friday. A third-round selection from the 2024 draft, Overn slashed .249/.355/.399 with 13 homers, 43 RBI, a blazing 64 stolen bases (in 72 attempts) and a 130/62 K/BB ratio over 477 plate appearances between High-A Aberdeen and Double-A Chesapeake in 2025.

The 18-year-old outfielder was a first round selection (37th overall) from this past June’s draft and has yet to play in a minor league game. He commanded a $4 million signing bonus, which was substantially higher than the $2.63 million allocated for the 37th pick in the draft. He’s a burner on the basepaths that projects as a player that will hit for a high batting average while playing quality defense in center field, though there are legitimate questions about his power potential.

Baz has always had more talent than his results have shown and given the massive haul of prospects that they were willing to give up, it appears as though the Orioles are a big believer that he can be a frontline piece of their rotation. The 26-year-old righty registered a 4.87 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 176/64 K/BB ratio over a career-high 166 1/3 frames across 31 starts in 2025. Baz is arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter and is under team control through the 2028 season.

The 31-year-old southpaw was just claimed off of waivers from the Braves last week, but he’ll get the boot from the O’s 40-man roster after Friday’s acquisition of Shane Baz. It’s possible that Walker could sneak through waivers this time around and continue to function as extra bullpen depth for the Orioles.

Bido had been designated for assignment by the Braves earlier in the week. The 30-year-old hurler posted an uninspiring 5.87 ERA over 79 2/3 innings in 26 appearances (10 starts) with the Athletics in 2025. He’ll add rotation depth for the Rays.

The 27-year-old elected free agency from the Twins back in November. He was abysmal during an injury-plagued 2025 season and spent most of the year at Triple-A St. Paul, but Miranda is just a year removed from slashing .284/.322/.441 with nine homers and 49 RBI in 429 plate appearances at the game’s highest level. It’s a very nice low risk signing for the Padres.

The framework of the finalized deal is the same that was reported earlier on Friday. Mike Burrows will be heading from the Pirates to the Astros, Brandon Lowe, Jake Mangum and Mason Montgomery will go from the Rays to the Pirates while Jacob Melton and Anderson Brito will go from the Astros to the Rays. The Astros have been inquiring on Burrows for a while now and was an obvious target of theirs to upgrade their starting rotation. The 26-year-old right-hander posted a 3.94 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and a 97/31 K/BB ratio over 96 innings in 23 appearances (19 starts) for the Pirates in 2025.

In return, the Rays will receive a package of minor league players that includes outfielders Slater de Brun and Austin Overn, catcher Caden Bodine and right-hander Michael Forret as well as a Competitive Balance Round A pick. The deal is still pending medicals. Baz posted a disappointing 4.87 ERA over 166 1/3 innings in 2025 despite a strong 24.8 strikeout rate. He represents a major upgrade to the Orioles’ rotation mix.

The 22-year-old outfielder was a ninth-round selection by the Phillies from the 2023 draft class. Owusu-Asiedu slashed a respectable .258/.366/.385 with seven homers, 44 RBI, 33 stolen bases and a 102/58 K/BB ratio over 425 plate appearances between Single-A Clearwater and High-A Jersey Shore in 2025. He’s likely a couple of years away from being an option to help out the Diamondbacks at the major league level.

After dealing away left-hander Matt Strahm on Friday morning, the Phillies moved quickly to add another left-handed reliever to their bullpen mix. Backhus, 27, registered a 4.62 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and a 22/8 K/BB ratio over 25 1/3 innings across 32 appearances with the Diamondbacks in 2025, his first taste of big league action. He’ll add bullpen depth from the left side for the Phillies.
