Cristopher Sánchez delivered a dominant performance in Sunday night’s victory over the Tigers, racking up six strikeouts over eight innings of shutout baseball.
The 28-year-old southpaw allowed just five hits and one walk on the evening. The Tigers mounted a couple of threats against him — twice putting two men on with no outs — and both times Sanchez was able to work his way out of the jam without any damage being done. He got 16 swings and misses on 84 pitches on the night — 14 of them on his world-class changeup — while registering a strong CSW of 33 percent. Now 10-3 on the season, he’ll bring a stellar 2.40 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 145/34 K/BB ratio (138 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s battle against the Rangers in Arlington.
