Wheeler is headed back to Philadelphia for further evaluation and testing after hitting the injured list earlier this weekend with a blood clot in his right shoulder. There should be a clearer timetable for his return at some point in the coming days and fantasy managers should brace for the possibility that the 35-year-old ace requires an extended absence.

This is Osuna’s first start at first base since 2022, so the Rangers are clearly looking for ways that he can get back onto the MLB roster even with Wyatt Langfors healthy. At 5'9" 185 pounds, Osuna isn’t a prototypical first baseman, but if he can be good enough there to play one or two games a week and then also play a game or two in the outfield, that could be valuable for the Rangers. The 23-year-old has a great understanding of the strike zone and slashed .253/.376/.275 with zero homers, nine RBI, and four stolen bases in 110 plate appearances with the Rangers so far this season.

In his minor league career, Ingle has caught 199 games and been a DH for 67 games. He has only made two starts in left field, and they have come in his last two games. That appears to be a pretty strong indicator that the Guardians are trying to see if there’s a way they can get Ingle up to help their big league lineup. The 24-year-old is slashing .300/.456/.569 in 40 games at Triple-A with nine home runs and a 37/37 K/BB ratio. Since he would likely have catcher eligibility in most fantasy leagues, his call-up would be an intriguing one.

The move comes a day after Curvelo was hit in the knee Saturday by a hard comebacker and forced from the game against the Guardians. Apparently, it wasn’t significant enough of an injury to warrant an IL stint, but it did cost him his spot. Perhaps Gavin Collyer will be promoted prior to Tuesday’s game.

Chapman also drew a walk before knocking in pinch-runner Jonah Cox for the decisive run tonight. Chapman is 7-for-12 with 12 RBI over the last four games as he looks to move back up the Giants lineup after being dropped to seventh in recent days. He’s second on the Giants with his 33 RBI overall.

McDonald struck out six and allowed four hits and four hard-hit balls in one of his best showings to date. He has a 4.15 ERA and a 37/12 K/BB in 39 innings through seven starts. He’s in for a rematch with the Cubs at home next week, which might not be a bad streaming play if their bats are still slumbering.

Smith struck out Michael Conforto and then got a couple of easy popups in his third appearance since being called up last week. He’s probably still behind a few guys in line for saves in San Francisco, but with no one else really stepping up, everyone is worth watching at the moment.

What a great effort from Assad, who still seemed to have something left in the tank while being removed after 72 pitches. He’s going to need at least three and probably four days off, so most likely, his reward for tonight will be a return to Triple-A Iowa’s roster. But if the Cubs put Taillon on the IL and bring in a fresh arm that way, perhaps there’s the chance Assad could stick.

The Cubs just gave Dansby Swanson a two-day break, but Bregman is probably more worthy of being held out of the lineup. He’s hit .243/.327/.342 with just 19 RBI in 297 plate appearances. In 75 at-bats with runners in scoring position, he’s hit .173 with a lone double as his only extra-base hit.

This might mean that Vaughn Grissom is IL bound, which would be unfortunate. The 22-year-old Guzmán has hit .336/.403/.571 for Triple-A Salt Lake. If he thrives, he could get a chance to stick at second or third, and while it probably won’t happen this year, the Angels could consider moving Zach Neto off shortstop to make room for Guzman in the future.

Nathan Church will presumably come off the IL to replace Scott and play center field most of the time. Scott is hitting just .194/.276/.258 with nine RBI in 184 plate appearances this season, and while his defense has been above average, it hasn’t been quite as good as last year. He needs to make some real progress offensively before getting another chance. His 24 percent strikeout rate wouldn’t be so bad if he had real power, but since he doesn’t, he needs to make quite a bit more contact.
