Díaz belted the third of three Padres’ home runs off of Diamondbacks’ left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez, with his 390-foot blast increasing the Padres’ lead to 5-0 in the second inning. It has been a rough season overall for the 34-year-old backstop as he’s hitting just .204/.270/.337 with nine long balls and 29 RBI in 283 plate appearances.

Peterson is still likely to pitch in a bulk role. Myers has topped out at three innings so far, throwing a total of 13 innings with a 3.46 ERA in six appearances. This seems like good news for those intending to use Peterson on Sunday, since it makes it more likely he’ll earn a win. It might not be great news for Peterson’s long-term value, though, just because the Mets seem rather down on him at this point.

Williams topped his previous season high of 10 strikeouts, falling one short of matching his career high. With his sweeper proving dominant, he had 18 whiffs and a 41 percent CSW, and aside from a Leody Taveras homer, most of the hard contact against him resulted in groundouts. He’ll take a 3-1 record and a 2.12 ERA into his next start in Toronto.

Smith got six whiffs in setting down Dylan Beavers, Colton Cowser and Leody Taveras. He’s now 5-for-7 saving games.

Kremer fanned seven and allowed just two hits, but one of those two was a three-run homer from Brayan Rocchio. Last time out, he fanned nine but gave up three homers to the D-backs. It’s encouraging that he’s missing bats, so it he starts keeping the ball in the yard — and he’s typically been pretty average in the regard — he might be a mixed-league option at some point. He’ll face the Red Sox next weekend.

Rocchio hit a fly 99.6 mph with a 37-degree launch angle in his first at-bat for a 350-foot flyout to right center. After recalibrating, he pulled his next fly, hit 99.7 mph with a 35-degree launch angle, just a little more to right for a 357-foot homer. And fortunately for the Guardians, they had two runners on base at the time. Ignoring the Rocchio homer and a solo shot from Bo Naylor in the eighth, they had only one other baserunner all game in the 4-2 win.

The Orioles’ three-through-five hitters combined to go 0-for-12 with 11 strikeouts, as Pete Alonso also fanned four times and Dylan Beavers managed just a weak groundout to go along with three strikeouts. Cowser, who suffered a minor knee injury in a collision with the right field wall Friday, was DHing tonight, though manager Craig Albernaz said he was fine to play the outfield. It kind of seems like a wasted lineup spot with Cowser hitting .178/.269/.200 this season on the heels of batting .196/.269/.385 in 2025. He might be in line for some Triple-A time if the Orioles are able get healthy at some point.

Realmuto was replaced by Rafael Marchan behind the plate. He’s again day-to-day after missing a couple of games with a foot contusion earlier this month.

Schultz, who missed the start of the year with elbow inflammation, had allowed four runs in eight innings since coming off the IL on Apr. 7. The Nationals will bring up another arm to replace him on Sunday.

A popout in the first inning would be the only out Kurtz recorded on Saturday. He drew a walk in the third, knocked a base hit in the fifth, then slugged a two-run homer off Jordan Leasure in the seventh. Kurtz was intentionally walked two more times before the game was done. The 23-year-old slugger is hitting .235/.429/.368 with two homers and nine RBI across 91 plate appearances.

Wilson put the A’s on the board with a solo homer off Erick Fedde in the second inning. He later added a base hit in the fourth and scored the walk-off run as the runner on second in the 11th inning. The 24-year-old shortstop has gotten going at the dish, with multiple hits in three of his last four games. He’s slashing .256/.264/.360 with two homers and 10 RBI across 87 plate appearances.
