Red Sox claimed C/INF Mickey Gasper off waivers from the Nationals.
Gasper had been with the Red Sox previously, so this is a bit of a reunion for the 30-year-old. He has hit .303/.406/.512 in 117 games in Triple-A over the last three years, but that has not carried over to the MLB level, where he’s slashed .133/.250/.195 in 58 games with the Red Sox and Twins over the last two years.

Pirates recalled RHP Cam Sanders from Triple-A Indianapolis.
With Carmen Mlodzinski being placed on the restricted list on Sunday, Sanders will have another chance to work out of the Pirates’ bullpen. He has made five appearances with the Bucs this season, posting a woeful 10.80 ERA, 2.20 WHIP and a 7/5 K/BB ratio over five innings of work. He’ll function in a middle relief role.
Cowser caps O's huge third with three-run blast
Colton Cowser wasted no time putting an exclamation point on a massive third inning for the Orioles, following up Pete Alonso and Samuel Basallo RBIs with a long three-run home run.

Pirates placed RHP Carmen Mlodzinski on the restricted list.
Wow. Mlodzinski voiced his displeasure about being bumped from the Pirates’ rotation to make room for the return of Jared Jones on Friday. Now it appears that the two sides are at an impasse. Expect the trade chatter around Mlodzinski to pick up over the coming days.
  • LAA Shortstop #9
Zach Neto (whiplash) returned to the Angels’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Rays.
Neto was removed from Saturday’s game following a collision at home plate, but it appears as though he suffered nothing more than minor injuries. He’s right back in there at shortstop and batting atop the Halos’ lineup against Rays’ left-hander Shane McClanahan.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #35
Justin Verlander (hip) is scheduled to make a minor league rehab start at Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.
The 43-year-old right-hander has taken a long time to recover from a hip impingement that has sidelined him since early April. He’s finally making tangible strides toward a return though and it’s possible that if Tuesday’s start goes well that he could be cleared to rejoin the Tigers’ rotation.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #65
Dodgers optioned RHP Paul Gervase to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Gervase has made just two appearances with the Dodgers this season, posting a 1.80 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 5/2 K/BB ratio across five innings. He’ll continue to serve as extra bullpen depth for a stacked Dodgers’ bullpen at the Triple-A level.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #86
Dodgers activated RHP Jack Dreyer from the 15-day injured list.
Dreyer had been sidelined since May 17 due to discomfort in his left shoulder. He has been exceptional out of the club’s bullpen this season, posting a 2.08 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 24/6 K/BB ratio over 21 2/3 innings. Paul Gervase was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move on Sunday.
  • PIT Right Fielder #29
Pirates activated 1B/OF Ryan O’Hearn from the 10-day injured list.
On the day that Konnor Griffin (forearm) heads to the injured list, the Pirates offense gets reinforcements with O’Hearn returning from his stay there. O’Hearn had been shelved since May 16 due to a right quad strain. He returns to a solid .289/.368/.459 slash line with seven homers and 29 RBI over his first 182 plate appearances with the Bucs.
  • PIT Shortstop #85
Pirates placed SS Konnor Griffin on the 10-day injured list with a right flexor tendon strain.
The Pirates are calling the injury minor and expect Griffin to miss only the minimum amount of time on the injured list. The 20-year-old phenom has hit .270/.327/.402 with four homers, 22 RBI and 14 stolen bases through his first 208 plate appearances with the Pirates. Ryan O’Hearn was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move on Sunday.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #43
Giants recalled RHP Tristan Beck from Triple-A Sacramento.
Beck rejoins the Giants’ bullpen in place of Ryan Borucki who was designated for assignment on Sunday. The 29-year-old righty has made two appearances with the big league club this season, hurling three scoreless frames with a 0.67 WHIP and a 1/0 K/BB ratio. He’ll function in a middle relief role for manager Tony Vitello.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #47
Giants designated LHP Ryan Borucki for assignment.
The 32-year-old left-hander struggled in 21 appearances with the Giants this season, posting a 4.94 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and a 15/9 K/BB ratio over 23 2/3 innings. Given the overall lack of quality left-handed bullpen options around the league though, it wouldn’t be surprising to see another team take a chance on him on waivers.
