Hunter Greene coughed up four runs in an inning of work against the Brewers on Saturday.
Greene allowed a run on a wild pitch, and then gave up three straight run-scoring singles. He walked one and didn’t pick up a strikeout in his first Cactus League start of 2026. These things happen. Greene will open the year as the ace for Cincinnati, and he offers significant fantasy upside despite his scuffles in an exhibition bout.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said the Mets have no updated timetable on Francisco Lindor (calf) and that he’s still a ways from restarting baseball activities.
Mendoza mentioned that a new MRI on Wednesday showed “signs of healing,” but it sounds like Lindor is at least a month a way from returning, if not more given the potential of a rehab assignment. MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo believes Lindor “figures to miss closer to two months or more.” He’s already missed the last two weeks and change, and that timeline would put him close to a July return.
Fried pulled from start due to elbow soreness
New York Yankees ace pitcher Max Fried was pulled from his start Wednesday against the Orioles due to elbow soreness and James Schiano explains why fantasy managers should wait for more news out of New York.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #62
Athletics acquired LHP José Suarez from the Mariners for cash considerations.
That’s a third team in two weeks for Suarez, whom the Mariners claimed off waivers from the Braves on May 4. The left-hander has allowed a 6.38 ERA in 18.1 innings at the big league level this year and will likely claim a low-leverage role in the Athletics bullpen for the time being.
  • ATH Center Fielder #70
Athletics designated CF Junior Perez for assignment.
Added to the 40-man roster to prevent him from being snagged in the Rule 5 Draft this offseason, the 24-year-old Perez has hit just .210/.273/.384 over 154 plate appearances in Triple-A Las Vegas and the Athletics will try to sneak him through waivers. Perez was originally acquired from the Padres to complete a trade for Jorge Mateo in 2020.
  • STL 1st Baseman #41
Alec Burleson is not in St. Louis’ starting lineup against the Athletics on Thursday.
José Fermín will draw the start at first base against LHP Jacob Lopez. Burleson is off to a fine start hitting .274/.344/.451 with six homers and two stolen bases in his first 41 games. He’s been a solid deep-league first baseman to this point.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #45
Mariners activated LHP Jose A. Ferrer from the paternity list.
He’ll be back in the late-game fold for the Mariners and should be activated in leagues that count holds. Ferrer also holds some deep-league appeal as a contingency plan for Andrés Muñoz when Muñoz needs a breather.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #37
Mariners optioned LHP Josh Simpson to Triple-A Tacoma.
Back on the shuttle he goes. Simpson has a 7.36 career ERA in the bigs — including 7.71 this year in three appearances — and is functional depth for the Mariners. With Jose A. Ferrer ready to return from the paternity list, Simpson is back to Tacoma.
  • SEA Catcher #5
Mariners recalled C Jhonny Pereda from Triple-A Tacoma.
He’ll split time with Mitch Garver while Cal Raleigh recovers from his right oblique strain. Pereda was hitting .321 in 100 plate appearances with the Rainiers this year, but is a career .248/.303/.301 hitter in the bigs and figures to only draw starts against lefties or when Garver needs a blow.
  • SD Center Fielder #3
Jackson Merrill is not in the starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Brewers.
It appears to be just a routine recovery day for Merrill, who is hitting a rough .215/.287/.342 in his first 41 games of the season with four homers and eight stolen bases. He’ll sit against LHP Kyle Harrison and the Padres will send Bryce Johnson out in his stead in center field while bumping Xander Bogaerts further up the order.
  • MIN Center Fielder #25
Byron Buxton is not in Minnesota’s starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Marlins.
It appears to be just a routine day off for the star centerfielder, who is off to a .260/.319/.580 start with 15 bombs in his first 40 games. Ryan Kreidler is taking over in center field while Brooks Lee gets a shot as the No. 2 hitter.
  • PIT Catcher #13
Endy Rodriguez is batting eighth and catching in Pittsburgh’s lineup on Thursday against the Rockies.
It will be Rodriguez’s first taste of big league action this year as Henry Davis takes a seat in the day-game-after-a-night-game scenario against RHP Chase Dollander. Rodriguez was hitting .221/.326/.301 for Triple-A Indianapolis in 136 plate appearances. The prospect luster appears to have worn off here after several injuries.
