The most encouraging development for the 21-year-old slugger is the 22.1 percent strikeout rate.

Alvarez held the Giants scoreless through four innings, but was working around plenty of traffic as he stranded eight baserunners through the four frames. He allowed the first two batters to reach in the fifth. That would be it for Alvarez, departing at 90 pitches. Both inherited runners would come in to score. He struck out four. The 26-year-old left-hander will take a 3.70 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and a 26/11 K/BB ratio across 24 1/3 innings into a home start against the Royals on Monday.

Houser surrendered a two-run homer to Luis García Jr. in the first inning. He settled in for three scoreless frames, then gave up a triple with one out in the fifth. That would be it for Houser at 77 pitches. The inherited runner would come in to score. He struck out six. The 33-year-old right-hander will take a 5.54 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and a 46/24 K/BB ratio across 65 innings into a start against the Braves in Atlanta next Tuesday.

Twenty-two games into his career, Bolte had still been searching for his first major league home run after crushing 12 over 22 games in Triple-A. He finally got on the board with a two-run blast off Robert Gasser in the second inning, a 106.9 mph shot at 446 feet. The 22-year-old outfielder has otherwise performed well, hitting .295/.371/.385 with seven runs scored, seven RBI, and four steals across 89 plate appearances.

Chourio wasted no time keeping up the power barrage in Las Vegas, taking J.T. Ginn deep for a two-run homer in the first inning. That would be his only hit in the game. The home run was his fifth of the season while slashing .301/.356/.496 with five homers, 23 runs scored, 19 RBI, and five steals across 146 plate appearances.

Barnett was summoned in the eighth inning with a two-run lead against the Brewers. He completed two clean innings, shutting the door on Milwaukee with four strikeouts to convert his first save. Barnett had previously made appearances of four and two scoreless frames, so he may stick to a multi-inning role. But he now has a solid 11/4 K/BB ratio across 7 1/3 scoreless innings of work.

Ginn served up a two-run homer to Jackson Chourio in the first inning. A double and a base hit would bring a third run in to score in the fourth. The Brewers would get two more runs across on two walks and two hits in the sixth before Ginn departed with two outs at 97 pitches. He struck out five. The 27-year-old right-hander will take a solid 3.15 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 65/30 K/BB ratio across 71 1/3 innings into a start against the Rockies at Las Vegas Stadium on Sunday.

Gasser gave up a solo homer to Nick Kurtz in the first inning, then a two-run blast to Henry Bolte in the second as the home run barrage in Las Vegas continued on Tuesday. It didn’t stop there. Tyler Soderstrom went yard off Gasser for a two-run shot in the fifth, followed by a solo homer by Jonah Heim. Gasser’s day would be done after five frames. He struck out seven. The 27-year-old left-hander will take a bloated 6.38 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, and a 19/9 K/BB ratio across 18 1/3 innings into a start against the Guardians in Milwaukee on Tuesday.
