Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Shane Bieber (forearm) will potentially throw off a mound for the first time next week.
For now, Bieber will “will stay on his regular throwing schedule for the next few days,” and then, a week from now, the team will access how he feels. The veteran has been battling forearm tightness since the end of last season. It’s a little concerning that the issue didn’t seem to get fixed over the off-season, which makes Bieber a real risk in fantasy drafts this year given his extensive injury history.

Josh Jung is not in the lineup to begin Tuesday’s game against the Orioles.
Jung will get a rest after an ugly 0-17 start to the season for the 28-year-old. He’ll get a reset with Ezequiel Duran starting at third base and hitting ninth.
Messick's start vs. LAD puts him on fantasy radars
After Parker Messick spun six scoreless innings against the Dodgers' ferocious lineup, Eric Samulski says fantasy managers should be "buying into" the Guardians starting pitcher.
  • TOR Catcher #30
Alejandro Kirk is not in the lineup against the Rockies on Tuesday.
Kirk will sit for the second time in three games. The 27-year-old will take a breather with Tyler Heineman behind the plate for Max Scherzer and hit ninth.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #44
Cardinals recalled RHP Gordon Graceffo from Triple-A Memphis.
Graceffo will take the roster spot of Matt Pushard, with Pushard heading to the injured list with knee tendinitis. The 26-year-old will be a multi-inning option in the St. Louis bullpen in this current stint.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #67
Cardinals placed RHP Matt Pushard on the 15-day injured list with right knee patellar tendinitis.
Pushard made just one appearance while allowing three runs in his MLB debut over an inning against the Rays. The seventh pick of the Rule 5 draft will be out for at least two weeks, and Gordon Graceffo will take his spot on the roster/in the bullpen.
  • STL Catcher #48
Iván Herrera is catching and hitting second against the Mets on Tuesday.
Herrera will be behind the plate for the second time of the season. Nolan Dorman will be the designated hitter, and Ramón Urías will handle third base. Pedro Pages will retreat to the bench with Herrera behind the dish.
  • MIL 1st Baseman #28
Andrew Vaughn underwent surgery to repair his fractured left hamate bone Monday.
Vaughn will now begin his post-operation rehab. The Brewers believe that the 27-year-old will be back with the Brewers in the middle of May, although that ETA obviously could differ based on how things go in that rehab. In the meantime, it’ll be Jake Bauers who gets most of the reps at first base, with Gary Sanchez getting those starts against lefties.
  • MIA 3rd Baseman #1
Connor Norby is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the White Sox.
Norby has struggled to begin the season with just two hits in his first 12 at-bats (.167), and he’ll get a day off with Graham Pauley hitting ninth and playing third base in Norby’s absence.
  • CIN Catcher #37
Tyler Stephenson is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Pirates.
It’ll be the second day off for Stephenson on the young campaign. Jose Trivino will catch Brandon Williamson and hit eighth against Bubba Chandler and the Bucs.
  • NYM Designated Hitter #28
Tim Healey of the Boston Globe reports that the Mets are hiring J.D. Martinez as a special advisor.
Martinez has not played in the majors since 2024 when he was a member of the Mets, and this all but confirms his MLB career is over. The 38-year-old finishes his career with an .863 OPS, 1,741 hits and 331 homers over 14 seasons with six different clubs.
  • WSH 3rd Baseman #12
Brady House is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s bout versus the Phillies.
House has swung the bat well so far with an .824 OPS, but he’ll get a breather versus Andrew Painter in his MLB debut and the Philadelphia pitching staff. Jorbit Vivas will handle the hot corner and hit fifth while House rests.
