LaMonte Wade Jr. went 2-for-2 with a pair of homers and three RBI on Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough to power the White Sox past the Padres in Cactus League play.

Wade continues to fight for a spot on the White Sox’ Opening Day roster and he made a strong case on Thursday. He opened the scoring in the top half of the first inning with a two-run blast off of Michael King. He then got King again in the third inning with a solo shot that tied the game at 6-6. The 32-year-old also drew a pair of walks, reaching base safely in each of his four plate appearances. For the spring, he’s slashing .289/.429/.605 with three homers, nine RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 49 plate appearances.

Cardinals recalled RHP Gordon Graceffo from Triple-A Memphis.

Graceffo returns to the big leagues with rookie reliever Max Rajcic hitting the shelf with an elbow injury. The 26-year-old has delivered a respectable 3.35 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 18/19 K/BB ratio across 40 1/3 innings across 35 appearances at the highest level this season. He’ll continue operating in low-leverage spots for the Cardinals.

Cardinals placed Max Rajcic on the 15-day injured list with right elbow soreness.

Rajcic will undergo further evaluation and imaging to determine the severity of the elbow issue. The 24-year-old rookie has posted a 5.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 8/6 K/BB ratio across nine innings since being promoted to the majors back on June 18.

A.J. Ewing is in the leadoff spot for Monday’s contest against the Braves.

Ewing homered off Atlanta lefty Martín Pérez on Sunday and moves up to the leadoff spot for the second time in the last three games. The 21-year-old rookie has put together a solid stretch in recent weeks, hitting .293 (29-for-99) with four homers, 14 RBI and four steals over his last 30 games. He’s going to be more impactful as a stolen base source than any other fantasy category, but he does offer some over-the-fence pop, which gives him more appeal than the typical speed-oriented waiver wire options out there.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. (toe) is in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the division-rival Rays.

Chisholm is back at second base and hitting sixth after exiting Sunday’s series finale against the Twins with right big toe discomfort. The 28-year-old power/speed combo threat has been dealing with the lingering toe issue since undergoing surgery during his time with the Marlins back in 2023. It’s an encouraging sign that he’s feeling well enough to get back into New York’s lineup without missing any additional time.

Jacob Young (hand) is back in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Astros.

Young returns to center field following a brief two-game absence due to left hand soreness. It doesn’t appear to be a significant concern moving forward. The 26-year-old outfielder has delivered a career-high eight homers along with eight thefts in 277 plate appearances through 83 games this season.

Astros activated INF Braden Shewmake from the 10-day injured list.

Shewmake is at shortstop and hitting eighth on Monday night against the Nationals in his return from the injured list. The 28-year-old infielder wound up missing nearly five weeks with a right adductor strain. He can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats.

Rays optioned RHP Mason Englert to Triple-A Durham

Englert pitched well on Sunday, allowing two runs in 5 2/3 innings while striking out nine in a loss to the Astros. The Rays will bring up some extra bullpen help in the meantime and then figure out a fifth starter if they need one over the weekend.

Jonny DeLuca is starting in right field and batting fifth against the Yankees on Monday.

Over the last three weeks, DeLuca has gone 9-for-33 (.273) with three home runs, six RBI, and three steals in 12 games. He continues to play less often than Victor Mesa Jr., which has limited his fantasy upside. However, if DeLuca were to get more playing time, he could be firmly on the radar in deeper formats.
