The Athletic’s Aaron Gleeman reports that it “looks like Mick Abel has secured a spot in the Twins’ starting rotation.”

Zebby Matthews was optioned to Triple-A today, so it seems like Abel and Taj Bradley will take the final two spots in the Twins’ rotation. Abel was tremendous this spring, allowing four runs on 12 hits in 18 innings while striking out 23 and walking three. He also looked solid for stretches in his MLB debut last season and was stellar in the minor leagues. He should be a priority target in the later rounds of drafts now that he has won a spot in the rotation.

J.P. Crawford

J.P. Crawford (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Tacoma.

Crawford is progressing towards a quick return to Seattle’s lineup after opening the season on the shelf with shoulder inflammation. He’ll likely require a handful of rehab contests to get back up to speed but should be ready to make his season debut later this week.

Zach Cole has been diagnosed with a broken toe on his right foot after being hit by a pitch over the weekend at Triple-A Sugar Land.

Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters it’s going to take a little while for Cole to get back after he suffered a fractured toe over the weekend while playing for Triple-A Sugar Land. His absence is a hit to Houston’s outfield depth when injuries inevitable strike at the highest level.

Ramón Laureano is on the bench for Tuesday’s game against the Giants.

Laureano takes a seat after making four consecutive starts in left field to open the season. The 31-year-old is off to a really strong start at the dish, hitting .357 (5-for-14) with one homer and one steal in four contests. It’ll be Nick Castellanos heading out to cover left field and face Giants ace Logan Webb.

Willy Adames

Willy Adames is back in the leadoff spot for Tuesday’s game against the Padres.

Adames gets another shot atop San Francisco’s lineup after going 1-for-4 on Monday as the Giants picked up their first win of the season. It’ll be the fourth time he’s led off in his entire nine-year career. No other changes for Giants rookie skipper Tony Vitello as Luis Arraez sticks in the cleanup spot for the second straight contest.

Polanco will get some extra rest in this one while playing through a relatively minor Achilles issue that flared up last weekend. The 32-year-old veteran should be considered day-to-day for now. He’s likely to be limited to DH for the immediate future. It’ll be Mark Vientos taking over at DH with Jared Young covering first base.

Raley will continue sitting against most left-handed starters, but he’ll do enough damage against righties to have some appeal in deeper mixed leagues. It’ll be Victor Robles in right field with lefty-masher Rob Refsnyder at DH.

It’s surprising to see Barger out of the lineup with a right-handed starter on the mound for Colorado in Ryan Feltner. The 26-year-old power-hitting corner outfielder has gone hitless in 12 at-bats over four contests to open the season. It’ll be light-hitting Nathan Lukes taking over in right field.
