Luis Gil was outstanding during Friday night’s Grapefruit League start against the Orioles, allowing just one hit over five scoreless frames.
Gil struck out seven opposing batters on the night while issuing only one base on balls. The lone hit that he allowed was a ground-rule double off the bat of Pete Alonso in the fourth inning. Gil got nine swings and misses on 69 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He finishes the spring with a 4.66 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 24/5 K/BB ratio over 19 1/3 innings in his six starts.
