Trey Yesavage (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a three-inning simulated game on Friday.
Yesavage is aiming for roughly 45 pitches as he continues to progress towards his season debut after being slowed by shoulder inflammation during spring training. The 22-year-old top pitching prospect will require at least a brief minor league tune-up before he rejoins Toronto’s injury-marred rotation, which looked outstanding during their season-opening series against the Athletics. Yesavage offers sky-high strikeout upside and projects as one of the most impactful young arms in the game from a fantasy perspective.

The A’s are calling up Kade Morris from Triple-A Las Vegas, according to MLB.com’s Martín Gallegos.
Morris, 24, presumably will replace Jacob Lopez in the rotation. He had a 4.45 ERA in 11 starts for Triple-A Las Vegas, which is pretty good considering the environment. Neither his 19 percent strikeout rate nor his 10 percent walk rate were very encouraging, but he is a strong groundball pitcher, who might allow him to hold his own for the A’s.
Analyzing Blue Jays' odds to make the playoffs
Trysta Krick and Vaughn Dalzell analyze the upside with the Toronto Blue Jays and if they are showing enough form to make a postseason run at this point in the season.
  • TEX Right Fielder #24
Rangers signed OF Jarred Kelenic to a minor league contract.
Kelenic was cut by the Rangers last week after hitting .226/.305/.321 and striking out 20 times in 59 plate appearances. That’s obviously not very impressive, but it’s interesting that he did have eight barrels and a 55 percent hard-hit rate. Statcast gave him an xSLG of .526. He’ll head to Triple-A for now, but he could see time in the Texas outfield later.
  • CWS Left Fielder #21
Austin Hays has been pulled off his rehab assignment due to continued soreness in his left calf.
The oft-injured Hays has been on the IL since May 2 with a calf strain after already missing most of April with a hamstring strain. Fortunately, the White Sox outfield has been just fine without him, and when he returns, it should be as a platoon player against lefties, rather than as a full-timer.
  • FA 1st Baseman #35
White Sox released 1B/OF LaMonte Wade Jr.
It’s unclear if this was at the veteran’s request. Wade was hitting .250/.420/.441 with seven homers in 221 plate appearances for Triple-A Charlotte.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #89
Reds selected the contract of LHP Brandon Leibrandt from Triple-A Louisville.
Leibrandt, 33, joins the Reds ready to provide innings after making 11 starts with a 5.23 ERA for Louisville. The journeyman previously pitched nine innings in the majors with the Marlins in 2020 and 6 1/3 innings for the Reds in 2024, amassing a 5.28 ERA.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #43
Reds designated RHP Yunior Marte for assignment.
Marte, who was added to the roster on Friday, gave up four runs over one-third of an inning in his one appearance for Cincinnati. He has a career 5.94 ERA in 113 2/3 innings out of the pen since debuting with the Giants in 2022.
  • CIN Shortstop #44
Reds placed SS Elly De La Cruz on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.
It’s the first ever IL trip for De La Cruz, who played in 162 games last season and started the Reds’ first 58 games this season. The hope is that this will be a short stay for the shortstop, who is hitting .280/.346/.509 on the season. It’s definitely a blow to the Reds, but it is an opportunity to give Edwin Arroyo a look and see if he might be a starting second base option after De La Cruz returns.
  • CIN Shortstop #56
Reds recalled INF Edwin Arroyo from Triple-A Louisville.
There was an argument for giving the 22-year-old Arroyo a try before Elly De La Cruz got hurt, and now he will get a look with De La Cruz sidelined for at least 10 days. He will be making his major league debut after hitting .323/.383/.562 with 11 homers and nine steals in 53 games for Louisville. If he thrives, then he could stick around and play second base after De La Cruz returns (maybe Matt McLain will finally get that crash course in center). That makes him worth a speculative pickup in a great situation for hitters in Cincinnati.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #66
The Athletic’s Chandler Rome reported that the Astros are moving RHP prospect Miguel Ullola to the bullpen in the short-term.
Ullola threw just 11 pitches in his last outing for Triple-A Sugar Land on Saturday, which raised some eyebrows. Apparently, the Astros believe that he can help the team more in the short-term as a right-handed reliever. Ullola has plus raw stuff but has struggled with command in the high minors, so this move does make some sense. As Rome noted, “No call-up is believed to be imminent,” but it does seem like, if one does come, “it will be out of the bullpen.”
  • MIA Starting Pitcher
According to Craig Mish, the Marlins are promoting RHP prospect Karson Milbrandt to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Milbrandt was the 85th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft and is a top 100 prospect in baseball, according to Baseball America. The 22-year-old posted a 1.34 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 70/17 K/BB ratio in 47 innings at Double-A to start the season. With Robbie Snelling (elbow) now out for the season, and Thomas White struggling, Milbrandt could be an option for the Marlins towards the end of the summer if he adjusts to Triple-A quickly.
