Michael Wacha, who had his start pushed back due to illness, allowed just one run and three hits over seven innings to defeat the Guardians on Monday.
The lone run came on a Steven Kwan homer. Rhys Hoskins also made a bid for one, but his fly to right in the second went just inches foul. Wacha settled for three strikeouts and six whiffs on the Guardians’ 41 swings, but only two of the Guardians balls in play in excess of 100 mph turned into hits. He’ll take a 0.69 ERA into a nice matchup against the White Sox on Monday.
  • TEX Left Fielder #20

Ezequiel Duran is starting at second base and batting ninth for the Rangers on Wednesday against the Yankees.
Over his last 10 games, Duran is hitting .276/.364/.379 with four RBI and three steals. Over that same timeframe, Josh Smith is hitting .216/.362/.270 with four RBI and one steal in 15 games, so it makes some sense for the Rangers to give Duran a few extra starts at second base to see if he can continue to give them solid production.
Can Phillies make playoffs after firing Thomson?
Trysta Krick and Drew Dinsick analyze the Phillies firing Rob Thomson and naming Don Mattingly interim manager after a 9-19 start, debating if Philadelphia is "falling apart" and sharing why they can make the playoffs.
  • NYY Catcher #28
Austin Wells is out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Rangers.
It’s a standard rest day for a catcher with a day game after a night game. It’s unfortunate that it comes after Wells had a solid performance on Tuesday night, but hopefully he can carry that over after the brief off day. J.C. Escarra will catch and bat seventh.
  • LAA 1st Baseman #18
Nolan Schanuel is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the White Sox.
It seems like a routine day off for Schanuel, who is hitting .271/.323/.390 in his last 15 games with one home run and 11 RBI. Vaughn Grissom will get the start at first base and bat seventh.
  • TB 3rd Baseman #13
Junior Caminero is starting at third base and batting second on Wednesday against the Guardians.
Caminero was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Guardians with a right jaw contusion after he fouled a ball off of home plate, and it ricocheted into his jaw. However, after the game, manager Kevin Cash said the exit was precautionary and that turns out to have been the case. We can all breathe a sigh of relief.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #70
Angels recalled LHP Mitch Farris from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Farris has started three games in Triple-A this season, but he has been used only as a reliever with the Angels. He will likely continue to serve a multi-inning relief role, but he could be an option in the rotation if there is an injury or regression for a pitcher like Walbert Urena.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #67
Angels designated LHP Joey Lucchesi for assignment.
Lucchesi allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings for the Angels this season. However, he does have a 4.15 ERA in 436 1/3 career MLB innings, so there is a chance that some team tries to claim him on waivers.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #59
Braves designated RHP Carlos Carrasco for assignment.
With Dylan Lee coming off the Paternity List, the Braves will move on from Carrasco and keep Didier Fuents in the big leagues. Carrasco threw one scoreless inning for Atlanta this season. The 39-year-old will likely clear waivers and could return to the Braves on a minor league contract.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #52
Braves activated LHP Dylan Lee from the paternity list.
Lee was placed on the Paternity List on Tuesday, so he’ll have missed just one game.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #76
Yankees recalled RHP Elmer Rodríguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
This move was reported on Tuesday, but is now official. Rodriguez will make his MLB debut against the Rangers, but is not a recommended add in most redraft fantasy leagues because this could be his only start before the Yankees get Carlos Rodon back in the rotation.
  • NYY Left Fielder #34
Yankees designated OF Randal Grichuk for assignment.
Grichuk was designated for assignment to make room for Elmer Rodriguez, who is going to start on Wednesday in his MLB debut. However, with Anthony Volpe set to come off the injured list this week, Jose Caballero can begin to play more outfield against left-handed pitching, which means the Yankees no longer have a need for Grichuk.
