Mets placed OF Juan Soto on the 10-day injured list with a right calf strain.
Soto said over the weekend that he believed he could avoid the injured list and called himself “day-to-day.” Unfortunately, the injury was more severe than that. The team has said that a typical return for this type of injury is between two and three weeks. The Mets would like Brett Baty to take most of Soto’s innings in left field, but Baty jammed his left thumb on Saturday night and didn’t play on Sunday. Baty was allegedly able to pinch hit, so he should be good to go, which would also open up first base at-bats for Mark Vientos, who has been swinging a hot bat lately.

José Berríos (elbow) is scheduled to face hitters again on Tuesday in a live batting practice session.
Berríos faced hitters at Low-A Dunedin over the weekend and will repeat the session this week. The 31-year-old righty is close to making a minor league rehab start and could potentially make it back to Toronto’s rotation mix by the end of the month, barring any setbacks.
Rea an 'interesting' fantasy SP with Horton out
Eric Samulski shares why Cade Horton's forearm injury could be a "long-term" situation and examines what options fantasy managers have with the Cubs SP on the injured list.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #57
Shane Bieber (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday.
Bieber made it through Saturday’s throwing session without any issues and will repeat the process again this week. The 30-year-old former fantasy ace should progress to facing hitters at some point later this month before embarking on a minor league rehab assignment. He’s unlikely to make his season debut until at least mid-May.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #39
Trey Yesavage (shoulder) will make another minor league rehab start on Thursday for Low-A Dunedin.
Yesavage threw 44 pitches in his first rehab outing last Friday and will continue building up his pitch count and stamina before he’s ready to make his season debut at some point later this month. The dynamic 22-year-old top pitching prospect is working his way back from a shoulder issue that delayed his ram-ip process.
  • LAD 2nd Baseman #6
Hyeseong Kim is at shortstop and batting ninth in Monday’s series opener against the Blue Jays.
Kim draws his first start at shortstop in place of an injured Mookie Betts (oblique) after being called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City over the weekend. It was Miguel Rojas at shortstop during Sunday’s series finale against the Nationals. The 27-year-old’s speed makes him an intriguing pickup in deeper mixed leagues since he should receive plenty of opportunities over the next few weeks with both Betts and Tommy Edman (ankle) on the shelf.
  • LAD Catcher #16
Will Smith is not in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Blue Jays.
It’s notable since Smith is out of Los Angeles’ lineup for a second consecutive contest with Dalton Rushing behind the dish. It’s possible this is merely an early-season load management decision, but he could be dealing with a minor physical issue. It’s a situation fantasy managers should monitor closely in the coming days.
  • TOR Catcher #30
Alejandro Kirk will undergo surgery on his left thumb, according to Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Schneider added that Kirk will undergo a procedure to address a fracture in his left thumb, but isn’t dealing with any ligament damage. There should be a definitive return timeline following the surgery later this week. However, fantasy managers should anticipate a multi-week absence. It’s an encouraging update after the 27-year-old backstop hit the injured list over the weekend after taking a foul tip off his hand during last Friday’s extra-inning game against the White Sox. It’ll be Tyler Heineman handling the catching duties in his absence unless Toronto brings in some additional veteran depth.
  • MIN Center Fielder #25
Byron Buxton is in center field and batting leadoff on Monday against the Tigers.
It qualifies as the first significant shakeup for Twins skipper Derek Shelton after Buxton hit second in eight of nine contests to open the season. The 32-year-old fantasy stalwart returned to Minnesota’s lineup on Sunday following a one-game absence after being hit by a pitch on the forearm. The move is a slight boost to Buxton’s fantasy appeal since it would likely result in an uptick in stolen base opportunities and runs scored. He’s hitting .133 (4-for-30) with two extra-base hits and one RBI through eight games after putting up a 35-homer, 24-steal effort in 126 games last year.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #61
Blue Jays selected the contract of LHP Josh Fleming from Triple-A Buffalo
Fleming last appeared in the big leagues two years ago when he pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He will give Toronto an fresh arm for the bullpen who can cover multiple innings.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #50
Blue Jays designated RHP Austin Voth for assignment.
Voth allowed one run in 2 2/3 innings this year but the Blue Jays wanted Josh Fleming up for length in the bullpen and had to free up a roster spot.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #73
Brewers recalled LHP Shane Drohan from Triple-A Nashville.
Droahn will ostensibly be taking a role in the bullpen with Jared Koenig (elbow) landing on the IL. However, Drohan threw 3 1/3 innings in a start in his first outing in Triple-A, so he could also be an option for a start or multi-innings on Wednesday after Chad Patrick had to pitch in a doubleheader on Saturday.
