Mick Abel threw six shutout innings against the Tigers on Thursday.

Unfortunately the bullpen quickly blew the 1-0 lead he left with, leaving Abel with a no-decision. He allowed four hits, walked three, and averaged 94.9 mph with the fastball. When the secondaries play as well as Abel’s did today -- he generated six whiffs on 31 swings against non-fastballs -- his fastball is hard enough to hit that it ties together well. Now carrying a 6.08 ERA through two starts, Abel is probably a fringe start against the Red Sox next week.

It appears to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 24-year-old shortstop. Utilityman extraordinaire Willi Castro will cover the position in his stead and bat sixth for the Rockies against Randy Vasquez and the Padres.

Diamondbacks signed RHP Blake Cederlind to a minor league contract.

Cederlind, 30, hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since making five appearances for the Pirates during the 2020 campaign and hasn’t pitched professionally since 2023. It’ll be interesting to see what he has left in the tank, making him an interesting no-risk gamble as depth for the Diamondbacks.

J.T. Ginn

ATH Starting Pitcher #35

J.T. Ginn will start for the Athletics on Friday against the Mets in New York.

He’ll get the first crack at filling the vacancy in the A’s rotation with Luis Morales optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas earlier in the week. The 26-year-old hurler posted a 5.14 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio over seven innings out of the A’s bullpen so far this season. Even though the start is away from Sutter Health Park, Ginn is not a recommended streaming option for fantasy purposes.

Corbin Carroll

AZ Right Fielder #7

Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo told reporters that Corbin Carroll was held out of the team’s starting lineup on Thursday due to a sore left hip flexor.

The dynamic 25-year-old outfielder felt a bit of soreness after his triple on Wednesday but was able to finish the game. The Diamondbacks don’t appear to be overly concerned, and it sounds like the plan is for Carroll to return to the lineup on Friday. Fantasy managers should be sure to check Friday’s lineup just to make sure though before setting lineups for the weekend.

Aaron Rozek

MIN Relief Pitcher

Twins re-signed LHP Aaron Rozek to a minor league contract.

The 30-year-old southpaw signed with the Twins as an undrafted free agent back in 2020 and he had been toiling in their minor leagues ever since. In 2025 he posted a 4.46 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and a 102/36 K/BB ratio over 109 innings in 32 appearances (11 starts). He’ll continue to function as extra pitching depth for the Twins.

Parker Meadows

DET Center Fielder #22

Tigers’ manager A.J. Hinch told reporters after Thursday’s game that Parker Meadows (head) will remain in the hospital overnight for observation.

Meadows suffered what looked to be a pretty significant concussion in a collision with teammate Riley Greene in the outfield during the eighth inning of Thursday’s loss to the Twins. He was disoriented and remained on the ground for several minutes afterwards before ultimately sitting up and being carted off the field. It sounds like a trip to the injured list could be in store here.

Jorge Polanco

NYM 2nd Baseman #11

Mets’ manager Carlos Mendoza acknowledged Thursday that Jorge Polanco (Achilles) may require a trip to the injured list.

The 32-year-old infielder was held out of the Mets’ lineup on Thursday after his Achilles injury flared up on him once again during Wednesday’s game. It sounds like they’re going to give him a couple of days to see if it improves, otherwise they’ll sit him down for a bit and make sure he gets right before returning to action.

Tyler Schweitzer

CWS Relief Pitcher

White Sox optioned LHP Tyler Schweitzer to Triple-A Charlotte.

Schweitzer made one appearance during his brief stay with the big league club, allowing one run on two hits over 1 1/3 innings against the Orioles on Wednesday. He’ll continue working in a multi-inning relief role at Triple-A Charlotte until his services are needed again.

Chris Murphy

CWS Relief Pitcher #38

White Sox placed LHP Chris Murphy on the 15-day injured list with a left elbow impingement.

Murphy had been knocked around in six appearances for the Pale Hose — registering a 10.50 ERA and 2.33 WHIP over six innings — and it sounds like the elbow issue may be partly to blame. No word yet from Will Venable and company on how long he’ll be shelved for. Brandon Eisert was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move to take his place in the White Sox’ bullpen.

CWS Relief Pitcher #53

White Sox recalled LHP Brandon Eisert from Triple-A Charlotte.

Eisert, 28, was a fixture in the White Sox’ bullpen throughout the 2025 campaign, registering a 4.39 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a 74/25 K/BB ratio across 69 2/3 innings in his 72 appearances. He’ll function in a middle relief role.
