Bruce Levine of 670 The Score in Chicago reports that while the White Sox have discussed promoting Sam Antonacci from Triple-A Charlotte, no plans are currently in motion.
There was a report from Noah Phalen of Sox Showdown on Sunday morning that Antonacci would be recalled along with top pitching prospect Noah Schultz on Tuesday, but it appears that’s not a guarantee just yet. Either way, the versatile 23-year-old is off to an outstanding start at the Triple-A level and should get a shot with the White Sox before long, even if it’s not during the upcoming week.

Gerrit Cole allowed three runs in 4 1/3 innings Friday in his first rehab start for Double-A Somerset.
Cole, who is returning from elbow surgery, struck out three in the 44-pitch outing. All of the runs came on a homer from Aroon Escobar in the second. There’s no Statcast in Double-A games, but it sounds like Cole’s velocity was down slightly from his shorter spring starts, though he was OK with that. “I didn’t feel like I needed to add any more today,” Cole said. “And it was kind of a nice working pace, and the offspeed was thrown with the same intensity. I was pleased with the changeup today. The curveball was very sharp. I didn’t make any mistakes with that pitch. The slider was good, I hung the one slider that was the double. The fastball was good overall.” The Yankees haven’t announced they date or location of Cole’s second rehab start.
Baldwin scorching to start the season for Atlanta
James Schiano discusses Drake Baldwin's hot start to the season and the metrics that show why he may challenge Cal Raleigh for the best hitting catcher.
  • TOR Center Fielder #5
Daulton Varsho exited Friday’s game because of left knee discomfort.
The Jays are stretched pretty thin in the outfield right now, so hopefully this will be a day-to-day situation. Myles Straw will play center if Varsho can’t on Saturday.
  • SEA 2nd Baseman #33
Brendan Donovan was lifted from Friday’s game in the fourth inning due to an apparent injury.
It looks like we’re not going to find out the actual problem until after the game. Leo Rivas replaced him at third base.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #77
River Ryan was placed on the IL at Triple-A Oklahoma City due to a hamstring issue.
It figures to be a brief IL stint for Ryan, who might be next in line if a spot opens up in the Dodgers rotation. He’s pitched just twice for Oklahoma City, giving up four earned runs and striking out 10 in seven innings.
  • HOU 3rd Baseman #15
Isaac Paredes was removed for a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning Friday because his “legs were not feeling good.”
Shay Whitcomb entered in his place. Paredes was supposed to get tonight off, but the Astros had him pinch-hit for Nick Allen in the fourth. If Paredes can’t do Saturday, then Allen could again start at shortstop, with Carlos Correa playing third base.
  • HOU Left Fielder #10
Joey Loperfido is day-to-day with right quad tightness he experienced in Friday’s game.
“I’m not super concerned about it,” he said. “I obviously want to be on the field helping us win. Just going to get it looked at and kind of go from there.” Brice Matthews is more likely to play if Loperfido can’t go Saturday.
  • DET Shortstop #7
Kevin McGonigle went 1-for-4 in Friday’s loss to the Red Sox.
The Tigers found themselves on the receiving end of a tough loss after they took a scoreless tie into extras on Friday. McGonigle’s single in the first inning was one of just four hits for the Tigers on the night, as Ranger Suarez stifled them for eight innings of shutout ball. McGonigle has now hit safely in three-straight games and has reached base safely in his last seven.
  • STL Catcher #48
Ivan Herrera went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in Friday’s win over the Astros.
Herrera has now homered twice in his last three games while hitting safely in four of his last five. Herrera singled in the fourth inning to drive home Pedro Pagés to give the Cardinals a 4-2 lead, and then smacked a two-run blast in the eighth to give the Cards a healthy 9-3 lead. Friday marks Herrera’s first multi-hit game of the season. While he’s starting to show a little more consistency at the plate, we need to see a few more games like Friday’s before assuming he’s out of this early slump.
  • HOU Left Fielder #44
Yordan Alvarez went 2-for-5 with a home run in Friday’s loss to the Cardinals.
Alvarez smacked a 378-foot homer into deep right-center in the third inning off Kyle Leahy for his eighth homer of the season and his second in three games. The left-handed slugger is now slashing .333/.479/.750 on the season and is tied with Aaron Judge for the league leader in home runs.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #20
Peter Lambert allowed four earned runs over five innings while striking out eight in Friday’s loss to the Cardinals.
Lambert, who was called up to make the start on Friday, surprised with eight strikeouts, tying for the second-most strikeouts in his career. Lambert ran into trouble early in this one. The righty allowed three of the first four batters he faced to reach base, with an RBI single by Jordan Walker giving the Cardinals their first run on the day. After escaping the second inning unscathed, Lambert hit back-to-back batters to start the third inning, and then walked Alec Burleson to load the bases with no outs. He would then fire back-to-back strikeouts but was tagged for two more runs courtesy of an RBI single by Masyn Winn. He would pitch a 1-2-3 inning in the fifth to close out what was an up-and-down night in his first big league appearance since 2024. If he gets the nod again, Lambert will be on track to start on Wednesday at the Guardians.
