Andrew Painter lost after allowing three runs in five innings Saturday against the Marlins.
Even one run would have been too many in this one, as the Phillies were shutout. Painter was very good aside from the third, when he gave up three straight singles and then walked both Agustín Ramírez and Connor Norby with the bases loaded. He issued just one other walk on the day, and he’d come into the game with six walks in five starts on the season. The loss leaves him 1-3 with a 5.28 ERA, but he’s been a little better than that suggests. He’ll likely get the A’s at home next week.
