McDonald impressed in his MLB time last year, as well, but there’s no word yet as to when — or if — he’ll get another turn in the rotation.

Greene progressed to throwing off a bullpen mound for the first time since undergoing arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his pitching elbow back in early March. The hard-throwing 26-year-old ace figures to ramp-up his throwing program over the next few weeks before starting a rehab assignment. It seems reason able that he’ll be ready to make his season debut sometime around the All-Star break in mid-July.

Slater becomes the latest Mets castoff to land with the Rays following reliever Craig Kimbrel down to Tampa Bay. The 33-year-old veteran, who heads to his third organization since the start of this season, makes a ton of sense for the club’s platoon-heavy approach and could find his way to the big leagues as an injury replacement at some point this summer.

It sounds like a matchup-driven decision as the Athletics are handing the ball to a pair of left handers in top pitching prospect Gage Jump and veteran Jeffrey Springs for the final two games of their current series against the Mariners. Severino will take the ball on extra rest against his former organization later this week in West Sacramento.

The 29-year-old upper-echelon fantasy starter was hit hard in his first couple outings, but remains one of the more durable workhorses in the game. He’ll face a tough matchup right out of the gate at hitter-friendly Coors Field, but he’s worth the risk in nearly every fantasy formats imaginable.

The positive news here is that X-rays came back negative for any fractures and Rumfield appears to have avoided serious injury after taking a pitch off his right hand during Monday’s series opener. The 26-year-old figures to get a couple extra days off to rest and recover this week. It’ll be Willi Castro taking over at first base on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.
