Wells broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth, sending a solo homer off Nick Martinez 414 feet into right center to give the Yankees the lead. It was the fourth homer of the season for Wells and his first in May, as the 26-year-old catcher has struggled mightily at the plate this month. Wells is slashing just .125/.208/.188 in May and is best left on fantasy benches until he can straighten things out at the plate.

Abner loses his spot on San Francisco’s 40-man roster with outfield prospect Bo Davidson ascending to the majors. The 24-year-old lefty made five appearances for the Giants after being claimed off waivers from the Diamondbacks in mid-August.

Lorenzen figures to elect free agency and get a head start on the offseason after passing through waivers unclaimed. The well-traveled 34-year-old made six appearances for Toronto before being designated for assignment last week. He finishes the year with a calamitous 7.21 ERA across 127 1/3 innings between the Blue Jays and Rockies.

Pages returns to Los Angeles’ lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Padres following a one-month absence recovering from surgery to address a left hand fracture. The 25-year-old fantasy standout was hitting .272/.338/.458 with 72 runs scored, 21 homers, 80 RBI and 12 steals in 550 plate appearances prior to the injury. He’s clearly worth rolling out there in most fantasy leagues based on his raw talent alone, but the Dodgers are presumably going to manage his workload closely during the final week of the regular season since he skipped a minor league rehab assignment altogether.

Sasaki is expected to operate as a one-inning reliever during Tuesday’s series opener against the Padres. The 24-year-old former starter is ostensibly auditioning for a spot in the Dodgers’ bullpen for their upcoming playoff run during the final week of the season after missing a couple weeks with a blister issue. He can be safely dropped in nearly all redraft fantasy leagues.

Technically, Sheehan could be brought back later this week to take the ball against the Giants in place of an injured Blake Snell (groin), but that would require another player, not necessarily Snell himself, to go on the injured list. The 26-year-old righty struck out nine over 5 1/3 shutout frames against San Francisco on Sunday. He’s been temporarily demoted to get Roki Sasaki back on Los Angeles’ active roster.,

Alfonzo heads back to the minors with Andy Pages coming off the injured list for Tuesday’s series opener against the Padres. The 26-year-old backstop has hit .179 (5-for-28) with four RBI in limited action for the Dodgers over the last couple months.

Gonsolin will presumably operate in a swingman-type role for Kansas City during the final week of the regular season after signing a one-year deal with the club last month. The 32-year-old missed most of the last two seasons recovering from elbow surgery. He allowed three runs over five innings during his final minor league rehab start for Triple-A Omaha last week.

Bivens heads back to the minors after spending a couple days in Kansas City’s bullpen. The 32-year-old reliever was claimed off waivers from the Giants back in mid-September.

One of the main components of the Tarik Skubal trade with the Dodgers last month, Ryan will make his Tigers debut against the Nationals on Monday. The hard-throwing 28-year-old top pitching prospect made four starts for Los Angeles before undergoing Tommy John surgery back in 2024. He’s spent the entire year pitching at the Triple-A level, compiling an impressive 47/9 K/BB ratio across 41 innings of work. Simply put, Ryan offers enough strikeout upside to be interesting as a streaming option for fantasy managers, even if he’s highly unlikely to work deep into Monday’s outing. He’ll get the ball in place of an injured Troy Melton (arm) during Detroit’s regular-season finale against the Pirates on Sunday.

Jung gets the nod to replace an injured Colt Keith (thumb) on Detroit’s roster for the final week of the regular season. The 25-year-old was one of the better prospects in the organization a couple years ago, but he simply hasn’t produced enough at the plate to warrant consideration for a semi-permanent role at the highest level. He can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats.
