It looks like Altuve may be able to jump back into Houston’s lineup without requiring any minor league game action to get back up to speed. How quickly that occurs remains a bit up in the air since he’ll need to face live pitching in a batting practice session prior to being activated. However, it doesn’t sound like he’s too far away. The 36-year-old has made a lightning-quick recovery from an oblique strain that put him on the injured list back in mid-May.

The Reds announced that Elly De La Cruz was pulled from Sunday’s battle against the Braves due to right hamstring tightness.

He’s undergoing additional evaluation. The severity of the injury is not yet known, so it remains unclear how much time (if any) the dynamic 24-year-old shortstop may have to miss. Matt McLain replaced him at shortstop on Sunday and could be in line for increased run at the position if De La Cruz is forced to miss any time.

Elly De La Cruz was removed from Sunday’s contest against the Braves in the fifth inning with an apparent leg injury.

The 24-year-old superstar singled to open the fifth inning, but came up hobbling as he rounded first base and was ultimately lifted for a pinch runner after a discussion with the training staff. He’ll head for further evaluation. All fantasy managers and Reds’ fans can do now is wait and hope for the best. The Reds should have an update on his status shortly.

Jesús Sánchez

The Blue Jays announced that Jesús Sánchez was removed from Sunday’s game due to a right wrist contusion.

Sánchez went for precautionary X-rays on his wrist after being struck by a ball that was thrown from the stands in right field, but fortunately they came back negative for any fractures. He’s considered day-to-day.

Jazz Chisholm Jr.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is not in the Yankees’ starting lineup for Sunday’s showdown against the Athletics.

It’s the second time this week that Chisholm has found himself out of the Yankees’ lineup, both times against opposing left-handers. Max Schuemann will start in his place at second base and will bat eighth for the Bombers against Jacob Lopez and the A’s in West Sacramento.

Dylan Crews (hand) was scratched from the Nationals’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Padres.

Crews was hit on the hand during Saturday’s game. It sounds like he tried to give it a go on Sunday but was still experiencing soreness so the Nationals opted to give him an extra day off. He’s considered day-to-day.

Guardians returned RHP Peyton Pallette to the White Sox.

The Rule 5 pick passed through waivers unclaimed and has been returned to the White Sox after being designated for assignment last weekend. The 25-year-old hurler will report to Triple-A Charlotte.

Jesús Sánchez

Jesús Sánchez was removed from Sunday’s contest against the Orioles after being hit by a baseball thrown by a fan.

Sanchez appeared to be hit in the right arm by a baseball that was thrown from a fan in the right field seats. He then had a brief conference with manager John Schneider and the training staff before the decision was made to remove him from the game. Expect Sanchez to undergo precautionary X-rays to rule out any fractures. The Jays should have more on his status after the game.

Corey Seager

TEX Shortstop #5

Corey Seager (back) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment early next week.

The 32-year-old slugger has been sidelined since May 18 due to back inflammation. He’s probably only going to need a couple of game’s worth of live at-bats there before he’s ready to return to the Rangers’ lineup. If all goes well, he could be back in action before the end of next week.

Cam Sanders

Pirates recalled RHP Cam Sanders from Triple-A Indianapolis.

With Carmen Mlodzinski being placed on the restricted list on Sunday, Sanders will have another chance to work out of the Pirates’ bullpen. He has made five appearances with the Bucs this season, posting a woeful 10.80 ERA, 2.20 WHIP and a 7/5 K/BB ratio over five innings of work. He’ll function in a middle relief role.

Wow. Mlodzinski voiced his displeasure about being bumped from the Pirates’ rotation to make room for the return of Jared Jones on Friday. Now it appears that the two sides are at an impasse. Expect the trade chatter around Mlodzinski to pick up over the coming days.
