Engraving Soriano’s name on to the AL Cy Young Award after his incredible April is looking like a mistake now. He’s walked 22 and allowed 19 earned runs over 33 1/3 innings in his last six starts, five of which turned into Angels losses. This seemed like the perfect opportunity for a rebound, but he instead walked seven against the offense with the second worst walk rate in baseball (only the Giants are worse). Soriano will probably have more good starts than bad going forward, but inconsistency has been a hallmark throughout his career. He’ll face the Dodgers next.

Walker signed a minor league deal with the Angels on May 23rd, but had an out in that deal, so he exercised that and was released. The 33-year-old will look to latch on with another team, likely on another minor league deal.

Gibson allowed five runs on 13 hits in 12 1/3 innings in his first three appearances with the Orioles this season. That came with a 5/7 K/BB ratio, which makes us a little hesitant to use him in most fantasy leagues right now.

Bassitt left his start on Wednesday after just 56 pitches, and there was some skepticism that he’d be able to make his next start. The Orioles seem to have given him every chance to be ready to start tonight, but it won’t happen. The 37-year-old will miss at least one more turn through the rotation and possibly more

Slater signed a minor league deal on May 27 and hit .348 in six games at Triple-A. The 33-year-old has always done most of his damage against left-handed pitching, so he figures to fulfill a short-side platoon role when he arrives in Tampa Bay.

The 21-year-old was promoted to Triple-A in the middle of May after hitting .317/.414/.566 with seven homers in 169 plate appearances over 36 games at Double-A Akron. He has since gone 13-for-54 (.241) at Triple-A with one home run, three RBI, and a 15/3 K/BB ratio. He’s the Guardians’ top prospect and the 56th-ranked prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline, and could be an option to break camp with the team in 2027, if we have a baseball season.

Márquez threw 28 of his 47 pitches for strikes, and it’s a bit surprising the Padres didn’t look to push him for another inning. The 31-year-old was at 36 pitches in his last outing, so the team is clearly being cautious with his progression. That makes it seem like he’ll need at least one more rehab start before potentially returning to the MLB rotation.

Condon is now up to nine home runs and 29 RBI on the season. The 23-year-old has had a bit of a streaky season so far. He had a solid April but was cool to start May before going on a 12-game hitting streak to end the month. So far in June, he’s gone just 3-for-22 with two extra base hits. However, he has a 6/5 K/BB ratio over that span, so he’s not being overmatched, which is a good sign. Still, a .249/.383/.454 slash line isn’t going to force the Rockies to be aggressive in calling him up, which means we may not see him until the end of the summer.

Smith also walked three, so he was unable to complete five innings yet again, but he did throw 92 pitches in this outing, which is the most he’s ever thrown in pro ball. In his last three starts, Smith has allowed three runs on nine hits in 14 innings while striking out 25 and walking six. He has only completed five innings in one of those starts, so efficiency and command remain key issues for the 22-year-old, but he seems to be starting to round into form.

This is Osuna’s first start at first base since 2022, so the Rangers are clearly looking for ways that he can get back onto the MLB roster even with Wyatt Langfors healthy. At 5'9" 185 pounds, Osuna isn’t a prototypical first baseman, but if he can be good enough there to play one or two games a week and then also play a game or two in the outfield, that could be valuable for the Rangers. The 23-year-old has a great understanding of the strike zone and slashed .253/.376/.275 with zero homers, nine RBI, and four stolen bases in 110 plate appearances with the Rangers so far this season.

In his minor league career, Ingle has caught 199 games and been a DH for 67 games. He has only made two starts in left field, and they have come in his last two games. That appears to be a pretty strong indicator that the Guardians are trying to see if there’s a way they can get Ingle up to help their big league lineup. The 24-year-old is slashing .300/.456/.569 in 40 games at Triple-A with nine home runs and a 37/37 K/BB ratio. Since he would likely have catcher eligibility in most fantasy leagues, his call-up would be an intriguing one.
