It looks to be just a routine day off for the dynamic 27-year-old outfielder. Jake Mangum will start in his place in center field and will bat seventh for the Pirates against Braves’ right-hander Bryce Elder.

Lopez was scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday due to the injury and will now be shelved for at least a couple of weeks. JR Ritchie was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move on Sunday.

Wantz was designated for assignment on Wednesday after allowing six runs over 3 2/3 innings in a pair of appearances for the Cubs. He passed through waivers unclaimed and will report to Triple-A Iowa where he’ll continue to serve as extra pitching depth.

Barnes had been designated for assignment earlier in the week and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 30-year-old southpaw will stick around and continue to provide extra bullpen depth for the Dogers.

Pérez has been shelved since mid-June after suffering a left orbital fracture in a freak accident in the training room when he was struck in the face by a plyometric band. He isn’t eligible to return until the middle of the month, so he’ll get at least a couple of weeks on his rehab assignment to get his timing back.

Castaño has been sidelined since June 18 due to a right pectoral strain. He’s going to require at least a couple of outings in a minor league setting before he’s ready to return to the Rockies’ bullpen. Barring any setbacks, he should be back at some point next week. Before being shelved, the 27-year-old hurler posted a 3.92 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 17/6 K/BB ratio over 20 2/3 innings.

Lord has been shelved since the second week of July due to tightness in his left side. He’s only expected to need a couple of tune-ups in the minors before he’s ready to rejoin the Nationals’ bullpen.

Perdomo’s home run was his ninth of the year. He hit a solo shot off Guardians reliever Hunter Gaddis in the seventh inning. Perdomo has six hits in his last two games. He’s hitting .238 with a .721 OPS and 41 RBI this year.

DeLauter’s home run was his 12th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Diamondbacks reliever Paul Seawald in the eighth inning. DeLauter’s home run was his first since July 12, a span of 13 games. He’s hitting .276 with a .785 OPS and 52 RBI.

Messick gave up six hits, walked one and struck out six. He cruised through the first four innings before running into trouble in the fifth inning. Messick struck out James McCann to start the fifth inning, but allowed three consecutive singles before he was removed. A throwing error by Rhys Hoskins accounted for the unearned run. Messick has a 2.57 ERA. He’s lined up to face the White Sox on the road next Friday.

Assuming that he’s not traded before then, Arraez apparently will play second base against the Padres. He left Friday’s game and didn’t play Saturday because of leg cramps.
