All four homers were solo shots, and Melton struck out five and walked none in improving to 3-0. He joined Logan Gilbert in earning a win this season despite allowing four homers. It typically happens once or twice a year: Tony Gonsolin was the only pitcher to do it last season, and Sonny Gray and Kutter Crawford were the two pitchers to pull it off in 2024. Melton should get the Astros on the road and the White Sox at home next week, making him a nice streaming option.

Realmuto led off the second inning with a double off of Miles Mikolas then scored on an RBI single off the bat of Justin Crawford. He then chipped in an RBI single in the third inning that extended the Phillies’ lead to 5-1. He then raced around to score on an RBI double by Bryson Stott. With his two-hit attack, the 35-year-old backstop is now slashing .226/.304/.360 with eight homers and 38 RBI on the season.

Harper drew a walk in the first inning and scored on an RBI double off the bat of Alec Bohm. He then doubled off of Miles Mikolas to start the third inning and scored on Brandon Marsh’s run-scoring double. The 33-year-old superstar is now hitting .255/.364/.500 with 24 long balls and 68 RBI on the season.

The Phillies’ new cleanup hitter opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI double off of Miles Mikolas in the home half of the first inning. He was then cut down at the plate trying to score on Alec Bohm’s RBI double. Arraez also singled in the seventh inning. For the season, he’s slashing an impressive .326/.361/.450 with five homers and 47 RBI on the season.

The 29-year-old southpaw punched out six batters on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. The Nationals scratched out a run against him in the second inning and Sánchez served up a solo shot to Andrew Pinckney in the third inning, but aside from that he was brilliant. He also wasn’t very economical, as it took him 98 pitches (56 strikes) to get 15 outs. Sánchez got 12 whiffs on the night, registering a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll carry his MLB-leading 15 victories and a minuscule 2.65 ERA into Tuesday’s tilt against the Cardinals in St. Louis.

After grounding out to third base in his first big league plate appearance, Pinckney victimized Phillies’ left-hander Cristopher Sanchez for a 402-foot (109.3-mph EV) solo shot in the fourth inning, pulling the Nationals to within four runs at 6-2. He was then pinch-hit for in the sixth inning. Pinckney possesses an interesting blend of power and speed and could wind up being a viable option in deeper mixed leagues if he can work his way into the lineup on a nightly basis while James Wood (oblique) is shelved.

The 37-year-old hurler walked one and struck out one batter in the ballgame. The Phillies got to him early and often in this one, striking for two runs in the first, one in the second and three more in the third — all without the benefit of a home run. Mikolas finished his day with a pair of scoreless frames, but the damage had already been done at that point. He got just four whiffs on 93 offerings in the game, posting an underwhelming CSW of 23 percent. Now 3-9 on the season, he’ll carry a miserable 5.89 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 56/23 K/BB ratio (113 innings) into Wednesday’s battle against the Cubs.

Wilcox suffered the injury and was pulled in the middle of an at-bat during the seventh inning. Oblique issues are notoriously tricky, so don’t be surprised if it winds up requiring Wilcox to spend a couple of weeks on the injured list.

Arrighetti has been working his way back from a nerve issue in his foot and it appeared as though he may have aggravated it again during Thursday’s contest. Before exiting he had allowed just two walks over 2 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball with one strikeout. He’ll head for further evaluation. Expect the Jays to have an update on his status before Friday’s game.

Urías suffered the injury while running the bases during Thursday’s game. The Jays should have a better idea on a timeline for his return and whether or not he’ll require a trip to the injured list after Friday’s exam.

Wilson has been shelved since spring training due to lumbar disc inflammation in his back. He has made nine appearances in the minor leagues as he has rehabbed, posting a 1.80 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and a 7/4 K/BB ratio over 10 innings of work. If he’s healthy, there should be teams interested in taking a shot on him as he has proven to be a viable bullpen arm at the game’s highest level.
